Charles was the brother of my farther he was born at Howden in 1901 and lived in Hull and was a conductor on the railway also conductor of the Hull railway band that used to play at Howden show. He had brothers Tom,Albert, Fred, Alan,Arthur,George killed in WW1, sisters Ivy, and Elsie

So looks like Charles father also worked on the in his younger days as did some of his brothers.
Can you tell me any more about Georg? His regiment or his date of death.
I am sure you will appreciate there were a lot of George Smiths.

I thought it was stated that Charles was born at Howden in 1901, not 1891? But if the names of the brothers fit, then just an error?

Patchem Perhaps his age was passed down orally and dates worked back from that. It is the only family that fits with names , and occupations. Brian also seems to be aware of Eli and Hannah Jane although it would have been useful fo him to have told us that in the beginning.
Brian when making a request on here please give as much info as you can so that when we search and come up with several possibilities we can rule things in or out. Especially helpful with Smiths. :-D
