Maryanna

Maryanna Report 19 Apr 2014 10:53

There was a right old carry on earlier, a Magpie was trying to get in the sparrows nest, there was about twenty of them throwing themselves at him and in the end he gave up and flew off complaining. They are horrible at this time of year, always trying to get into the smaller birds nests.

Himself has just found a nest of slow worms in the garden. So I wasn't being TOO stupid yesterday, even if it was just a stick !! As long as they keep out if the way if the mower I don't mind.

M.

Jane, hope you slept better, I just had a thought. When I had my last cold, I took night nurse for a few nights, I noticed it has Anti Histamine in it , " to stop coughing ", I usually take them from around now anyway, so I started to take them a bit earlier, not sure if they helped but the cough certainly didn't last as long as it would do normally.

Jane check this site out re swifts and swallows

http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/s/swallow/index.aspx

I hope your cough let you sleep last night and that you feel better today.

I am really worried about not hearing any new from Kandj, I do hope things are all right with her OH. Sending her lots of thoughts anyway <3 <3

Jane Report 19 Apr 2014 17:15

I have found the first broken birds egg in the garden (little blue one) is that a Blackbirds?) :-( That will be the Magpies :-|

Maryanna I forgot about Night Nurse.I have had that before .I already take a Zirtec each day .But I will investigate that.I did sleep better ,then coughed all morning lol.
Oh well ,it will go eventually.Just wish it would hurry up.

Thanks for that link Ann.That was very helpful :-D.I listened to the sound tracks too of both the birds and they are quite different aren't they.

I think it is a very tough time for Kandj so I don't think we will be hearing from her for now. I just hope that her OH will get better and that she will be back again with us soon <3

I don't know where all my BlueTits have gone :-SI have only seen a couple today.

I have been thinking about Kandj as well. Granddaughter had two degus, one died and, as they are sociable creatures, she has two new ones as companions for the one left behind. She emailed me a couple of photos of the new ones and my first thought was how much Kandj would hate these furry, rat like creatures.

There are one or two messages on the Christian thread to let her know we are thinking of her if she does happen to look in. I'm keeping everything crossed for her and hoping her OH recovers swiftly.

Jane Report 20 Apr 2014 10:44

I have had a message from Kandj ,and she asks me to say thank you to everyone for their thoughts and encouraging words.

It is a miserable grey and misty morning here.I see all the horses over the way are in their coats so it must be a bit on the chilly side.I slept so well last night (I gave in and had a bit of help from a tablet :-D) it did the trick.Just woke up a couple of times with a bit of cough but then straight back to sleep. So I feel a bit more with it today :-D

Happy Easter everyone :-D

Morning everyone:)

First thing l saw this morning when l opened the curtains was a female Reed Bunting pecking the back window of the car, she was doing that most of the day yesterday too, she'll be exhausted. The male joined in to sometimes, bless em. l guess its their reflection they are trying to tell off.

Doesn't matter how you did it Jane but you did it, pleased that you are better today.

Jude, Can you catch a photo of the Reed Buntings or will they fly off? They must be terratorial and fighting off interlopers. :-) :-) :-)

Jane Report 21 Apr 2014 11:53

It is a much nicer day today but the smell of the Oil Seed Rape that surrounds us is smelling so strong :-S,I don't think I shall be outside much.
I'm wondering if the lack of Blue Tits at the moment is because they are all busy collecting the caterpillars for their babies :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Apr 2014 15:08

I saw in the paper that it is called oil seed rape syndrome Jane. the stuff makes me sneeze and my eyes itch.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Apr 2014 15:22

Jude's reed buntings on the photo blog

Jane

Jane Report 21 Apr 2014 18:13

Well I never .I imagined those Buntings to be large birds lol..I had in my head they were some kind of water bird :-S :-S

Ann your garden is looking just lovely :-D and so colourful.I have to wait for lots of colour here as OH plants everything from either seed or those plug things. His veg look as though they are coming along nicely though :-D

I had to shut all my windows this afternoon because of the pong of the Rape.OH says he can't smell it........I think he must have something wrong with his snout :-S :-S

AnninGlos Report 21 Apr 2014 18:40

The blackbird lmost managed to empty the bird bath with his exuberant bath routine this afternoon. The we had a tremendous thunderstorm that filled it up again. And during the torrential rain the wood pigeon was nonchalantly padding around on the lawn :-D
