By now Jane and Thomas will be at the animal centre in Northampton and I am thinking of them. I hope the operation goes well. I am sure Thomas will make a good recovery. He seems a tough little fella. I've got fingers, toes and everything else crossed <3

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Jun 2016 09:07

Yes, all crossed here too. So upsetting when our pets are ill or hurt.

Jane Report 8 Jun 2016 12:13

Thanks so much everyone.Yes I am hoping that the op is done now and he will be in recovery.I will pick him up later this afternoon all being well and take him to another Vets here where they will keep him over night and manage pain control ..Then that will be over to us .Not an easy job to give a cat bitter tasting medication and probably even more difficult getting tablets down :-S..Done that before and it is no mean feat .
I'll have some physio too to do !!.I can see the next few weeks being rather stressful :-)
Hey Ho ! :-D

kandj Report 8 Jun 2016 15:52

I am sure Thomas will be well looked after and hopefully improve a little each day.
Remember to take care of yourself too Jane, it has been a stressful few days.

Jane Report 8 Jun 2016 22:18

Op done and Thomas recovering now in a local vets overnight. He had the head and neck of his femur removed !!!!.Poor little chap has been through the mill .
Hopefully I will bring him home tomorrow sometime .Then the fun begins !!!.
Physio(I have to be told yet what I have to do).Getting tablets into him(now that will not be easy) and look after the external stitches .He may come back with a 'lampshade' :-S
I am thinking about buying a harness with lead so I can take him in the garden to exercise his leg ,but knowing he can't disappear :-)..His hip and leg look like a Turkey Leg ready for the oven !! :-( with a row of stitches.
I can't begin to tell you how tired I am .I feel like I have been on treadmill since Monday. So it is bed for me now :-D

AnninGlos Report 8 Jun 2016 22:29

Hopefully you can get a good nights sleep before you don your nurses uniform Jane. Pleased to hear he came through the op ok. :-)

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jun 2016 17:36

No nurses uniform yet Ann.They are keeping Thomas in for a second night. It is just for pain control as he is still needing the strong stuff. So all being well I pick him up tomorrow at 2 :-D.. Slept like a log last night and hopefully will do too tonight.

AnninGlos Report 9 Jun 2016 22:48

He is in the best place then jane and you can catch up on more sleep. <3 <3

SuffolkVera Report 10 Jun 2016 08:32

That's good news Jane. I hope you have had plenty of rest while he has been at the vets cos I bet when he is home you will be checking him every 5 minutes.

Will be thinking of you Jane when you pick Thomas up this afternoon. It is sure
to be a stressful few weeks ahead, but he has his very own Doctor and Nurse on
hand for lots of gentle TLC. Thomas chose you well. Take care of yourself too.

No strange little bird. No idea where it is came from or where it has gone back to?

Keeping both bird baths filled and we are amused to see the birds cooling off in
the water. Yesterday a row of starlings stood patiently on the wall. That's a first!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Jun 2016 10:46

I love the way the starlings seem to queue up for the bird bath or the coconut. I am sure they must have a hierarchy system

Jane Report 10 Jun 2016 16:52

Thomas is home :-D..Fast asleep in the cage at the moment asfter a greal deal of scrabbling to get out.The water bowl is upturned :-S,so he has made a right old mess already. I will sort that out when he wakes and I can let him out to stretch his legs.
He is weight bearing quite well but falls over when he turns around.
Medication due at 8pm .I wonder how that will go.Apparently he took his tablets at the vets just as though they were a treat !!.But I doubt he will be so good for me.
He is doing really well considering what a big op it was and we are just 48hrs post op.

AnninGlos Report 10 Jun 2016 18:33

Bless him, he will probably play you up as he starts to feel better. Hope all goes well with him snd pleased he is safely home.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 10 Jun 2016 20:16

Glad Thomas is safely home. He sounds as though he is doing really well. Has he had his medication yet or are you still trying to get it down him?

Jane

Jane Report 10 Jun 2016 21:06

It went down really well Vera :-D :-D :-D(much to my relief).Hopefully tomorrow morning meds will be just the same.I live in hope :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 11 Jun 2016 15:19

Yep! No problems this morning either with meds :-D..That's my boy :-D
Slept all night .Me on the settee. He really hates the cage but settles after a while.I have him out when I am in the room and he just potters to his litter tray has a sniff at he food bowl and then flops on the carpet. He's doing well.

OH has got a new friend. The roundest little Robin I think I have ever seen. It's like a little ball LOL.It just follows him around the garden and yesterday OH was out on the front drive trying to cut the hedge(on our side ) from next door and the little Robin was there then too :-D :-D.I'm not sure it will want to be this close once Thomas gets out again though.Just making the most of a cat free garden at the moment :-D :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Jun 2016 16:14

Glad he is progressing and being good about his meds Jane. The robin sounds like a baby, when born they are like round balls of fluff. Sweet!!

Jane

Jane Report 11 Jun 2016 17:30

I too think this is a young Robin Ann :-D.He is so cute :-D :-D and already happy to be near humans.Little does he know in a few weeks there will be a Thomas about :-S
I took my eye off Thomas earlier as he was fast asleep on the floor. It was just a couple of minutes and I found him on one of the dining table chairs ! Not Good.I was given strict instructions not to let him jump :-S :-S.
I think I can see some nasty looking clouds about .Maybe a bit stormy :-S

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Jun 2016 17:41

Maybe he will learn that it hurts if he jumps and won't do it again. Otherwise he will have to stay caged. :-( :-(

kandj Report 11 Jun 2016 18:52

Hope Thomas continues taking the tablets without problems Jane.
He is quick to bounce back. Hope Thomas doesn't bounce off the chair...... that would never do. He is a tough cat!

We seem to have lost our little robin..... haven't seen him for quite a while now??
