A bright sunny morning here in Yorkshire but quite fresh too. Plenty of birds around and all VERY hungry so had better go and refill the feeders for second sitting lol

The little birds are eating like little piggies here too lol.That window feeder of mine attracts so many birds.I fill it up each morning and think that will keep them going but by mid afternoon it needs topping up again .I would love to have one of these cameras set up just to catch the number and speed of the birds that feed from it.

Ann I suppose you can only assume the smaller birds are sensing the sparrowhawk is nearby. :-S

Today I put out prawn crackers the type you get free from Chinese restaurants, by the time I had got back indoors to wash my hands the robin, blackbird, sparrows and blue tits were scoffing them up before they touched any traditional feed. :-)

Sorry I forgot to say that MOG's uncle was/is delighted with the window feeder we got him :-D

We have another invasion of moles and because the ground is so wet you can actually see their feeding runways rather than just the mole hills, grrrrrrrrrr:-| I hope they are eating the slugs and not the worms :-D

Ann, I agree that your garden birds have been frightened off by the sparrowhawk, I hope that they come back to you soon though.

Jane, I am still undecided about the window feeder????? I wouldn't want to attract any mice..... I am a real wuss lol.

kandj That's another present I can cross of the list then.:-D :-D :-D Some birds prefer to keep their feet on the ground when feeding so if you did get any spillage from the window feeder I'm sure blackbirds, dunnocks etc would soon clean up:-D

Blessed with another lovely day here in Yorkshire and seems warmer than yesterday so I hope it will dry my washing today.

Lots of starlings swooping down and taking everything in sight, so looks like I need to put yet more food out for the late comers now.

Go for it and try a Window feeder :-D.I don't put seeds in mine .Just the suet Pellets .If any are dropped or spilled the Sparrows or Blackbirds soon snaffle them up.The Mice wouldn't get a look in lol.My feeder has been so busy this afternoon I couldn't even count the numbers of birds at one time .They were almost squabbling to get on it.It is always Blue Tits,Chaffinch,Robin,and Gt Tit.
We had a Male Pheasant around all day today .I did manage to get a pic of it having a lie down on the top of our Wood Shed through the window :-D
Lesley I never would have thought the birds would love Prawn Crackers lol they won't get any here though as I hate them.
I was up so early this morning as my hip kept me awake so I came downstairs about 5am.That Pheasant was pottering around on the Patio just outside the back door then .
The Squirrel is back too .I spotted it digging in one of the flower beds(didn't tell OH) and then this afternoon it was hanging upside down eating from the birds Coconut…….I better go and stock up on Coconuts and Suet Pellets tomorrow :-D

Jane I had a look yesterday for the window bird feeder.
I spotted one recommended by the RSPB and then others which were similar on Amazon site. Some for seeds and also some include a fat ball space. There are some with only 2 suctions to fasten to the window and others with 3, which I would have thought was much more secure.
Any ideas to purchase a good one please as I have some birthday money gathering dust in the drawer, so I am now seriously thinking of purchasing one BUT I shall be looking for lodgings if any mice come near..... I have a real phobia even though hubby tells me they are more frightened of me than I am of them
but I'm not convinced that's true ha ha.

I have the one with 2 suckers.and a bit of string you can hook in through the top window .I can't think what that window is called ,but the one that just pushes out over a big window(I hope that makes sense :-S :-S)The bit of string just prevents it from falling to the ground should the suckers fail.I have the one with the spiky things for the fat balls to go on ,although I haven't added them yet.I just stick to the Suet Pellets.I don't think you need to worry about mice.Go on ,give it a go :-D :-D.You will love it.
My son bought me mine for my birthday andI have to say it is one of the best presents .I even get to recognise some of the birds that visit it,as some have their quirky ways.One little Blue Tit always picks up the pellets and chucks them out over the side if the feeder.A Robin will sit on it and look in the window for ages..Then there are the bossy /bully ones that won't let any other bird on the feeder….Forget mice and enjoy the birds :-D :-D

kandj your hubby is right mice are more scared of us :-D I can live with mice in the garden but rats no way never and through the winter it isn't uncommon to catch sight of one under the hedge, grrrrrrrrrrr I hate them:-(

Jane. I will pop into the village shop that sell garden items and see if they have a window feeder for birds just so that I can have a close look at what they are like.

When I got up this morning I sat with a cup of tea watching the birds feeding at the window .Within about 10 minutes the Big Male Pheasant came pottering along the patio ,then a Spotted (never know if it is a greater or lesser) Woodpecker was at the Coconut and then just after that came the Squirrel and scoffed a load of suet.
No Mice though :-D :-D

Jane, I went to the village garden shop but they don't stock the window feeders and so I have just browsed and ordered an RSPB window feeder and the berry suet pellets too, so my little birds are in for a treat quite soon. Just call me Mrs Santa Claus lol

I am a Libra birth sign and rarely do anything on impulse. Now I await the feeder and berry pellets and am wondering which window to site this bird feeder???,
we live in a bungalow and so do I choose, the kitchen, dining room, lounge or bedroom........ decisions, decisions haha.

LOL Mrs C …Decisions decisions :-D.Where do you spend most time?.My feeder is on a lounge window right opposite the chair I sit in to watch the tele .There is also a big tree where the birds retreat to with their little beaks full of food.I'm sure you will love it. :-D :-D
The Green woodpecker has spent a good half an hour on our lawn this morning pecking away for bugs.It would have been there longer but I had to go out to the bin and scared it off. :-S
