Had a migraine yesterday so I missed this - OH says he had the patio doors open and a magpie hopped up right onto the sill to have a nose in. He says if he hadn't moved it might have come right in, but it didn't rush straight away when he turned to look.

Glad your grandson enjoyed his birthday. What a lovely idea to give a handmade wedding gift.

Migraine has gone, but it was a bit of a fight this time. I woke up with a headache again yesterday but managed to stop it developing any further and only had to use proprietary medication thank goodness. I only get 6 of my bombers prescribed at a time so I'm happier that I haven't had to whizz through them.

Yesterday I had a pair of greenfinches on the niger seed which was lovely. They were there quite a while, and I may even have got a distant picture but since having new laptops we don't have the camera software on either of them. Waiting for OH to have time so we can sit together and work it out as we have the gubbins but can't find the instructions.

Haven't seen greenfinches at all since last year so I'm pleased to see them again. We've seen goldfinches a little more recently too, but still not what you'd call regularly.

At last maybe we can say the weather's getting warmer now?... What d'you reckon?

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 19 May 2010 01:27

l reckon it is getting warmer:o) we've been in the garden this past 4 - 5 days ish,it was too bloomin hot this morning at first.

Mosaics....l have just ordered some tiles from usa, beauuutiful purples and white, need yellows, pinks and more whites:o)

We've had a few greenfinches too, but then we do everynow and then.
Madoc is still the chief rat/mouse chaser, he's having a ball.....my poor plants are suffering though:o(
Sweetpeas are in, or atleast one lot are, 2 big yellow dahlias also in and neighbours runner beans, loads of em....for us:o)). My greenhouse is full of neighbours plantings, bless her:o)
Can't sleep, strange noises outside. We think new neighbours moving in, they've been cleaning the house all day,but making a racket at 1am.....grrrr
Just downed a cuppa and 3 digestives:o)

Such a lovely day yesterday, and looks set to be similar today too. We were able to spend a good bit of time just relaxing in the garden - not often the opportunity and the good weather coincide. As we sat down by the river we spotted a pair of robins making more robins in the willows on the other side of the river. Also whilst sitting in the shade of our own weeping willow it was just full of long tailed tits. They made me laugh as they hung sideways off the long weeping branches and they sounded just like squeaky toys. Our mummy duck showed us her 7 ducklings too, I hope they all make it.

We have been watching a blackbird here in Tenerife collecting nesting material, it is tearing apart a liner in a trough which is sort of made of coir. There are a lot of blackbirds here, if the door is open up at the bungalow and the fruit bowl has avocados in it they fly indoors to get at the avocados, as do bluetits. From our patio we sit and watch the resident hawk and in the evneings we see four or five parrots as they fly back to their home, they are all 'chatting' away to each other like a group of women, so funny.

It sounds wonderful where you are Ann.
I just bought a new fat cake to go in the holder and it was melting in this heat.I really should have popped it in the fridge for a while. It is the wild berry one and it will be gone in a jiffy lol

AnninGlos Report 23 May 2010 13:06

Strangely we have a cloudy cool day today after almost a week of heat.

Jane

Jane Report 23 May 2010 15:53

The birds are all singing away, but they are all staying in the shade in their trees. It's too hot for them to come out at the moment.
I bet a bit of cool must be a little relief Ann.

I went to the seaside yesterday at West Wittering to meet a friend I'd not seen for years. Such a lovely day. Back on the campsite where she was staying with her gorgeous dog Laska, an Alaskan Malamute, there were lots of jackdaws.

Jean (Monmouth)

Jean (Monmouth) Report 25 May 2010 19:00

Arnt those dogs gorgeous! There used to be one in town that I always spoke to when I saw him.
Had the stitches in my forehead removed today. Dont think the scar will be noticeable when the swelling has gone down, better than the growths anyway. Have also been into hospital and had my bladder stretch, Not certain how well it has worked as I am geared towards going to the loo every hour, but I do see some improvement, only getting up twice in the night instead of four or five.

DizzieLizzie Report 25 May 2010 19:43

Poor Jean, you've been through the mill a bit haven't you. Hopefully everything will settle down a bit for you now, and maybe if the op has worked you'll be able to catch up on a bit of sleep.

Yes Laska's such a calm dog and such beautiful markings. She enjoyed the sea yesterday too as it meant when she went for a swim it continued to keep her cool while her thick coat had to dry out. Mind you Lesley says she wants to get a sign for round her neck that says "I am not a husky"! Lol.

Jane Report 25 May 2010 19:49

Ann,twice a night seems a huge improvement .I hope it continues to improve.
I had a mole removed from under my eye many years ago and had 17 tiny stitches.I just have a very fine line that no-one else notices other than me.I'm sure yours will be the same.
I have been watching a blackbird running in and out of our hedge all day with it's beak full of nesting material.it looked like it had a beard at one stage lol

Jane, I think you mean Jean not me!!

This morning we walked down where we saw the baby hawks last year. Well we didn't see any babies but there were four adult hawks flying around the same cliffs. I managed to get what I hope will be a good photo of one sitting on a large cactus. He or she was a good model sitting there for quite a while.

Jean (Monmouth) Report 26 May 2010 18:56

Never mind, Jane, I knew it was me you were talking to! I'm afraid this growth wasnt done by a surgeon, so only had 4stitches, but it will look OK.
We still have no birds in the garden, neither has our neighbour down the road, so we dont know what has happened to the hordes that were feeding here. Havent seen any birds of prey other than the pair of buzzards that are usually up in the wood, but they dont come down to the houses.

Jane Report 28 May 2010 18:34

We had 2 cheeky squirrels in the garden this morning.I haven't seen them before. They were chasing eachother around our big bay tree and then they scampered up the lawn and spotted the Fat Cake hanging on the tree on the patio. It was so funny to see them both trying to get along the branch as their weight nearly dragged it down to the ground lol. They then jumped onto the sloping roof just beneath my sons bedroom and were right by the window sill.At one point I had an awful feeling they were going to jump up to the roof.I do not want them getting into the loft!!!!!!!.Once again no camera beside me lol

Jude the silly thing is OH's parents lived not far away for the last few years of their lives, but sadly they had both passed away quite soon after moving to the area so we never discovered it. Still there's a lady who used to sometimes look after MIL's dog (who later became ours) that we like to keep in touch with so we may go for a break there and will be able to include a visit to her.
