Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 24 Jan 2009 04:00

Hi all, didn't get to have the blood tests as o.h. forgot to turn the immersion heater on, it's all he has to heat water and I will not go out with my hair a mess, it's thin and fine and goes lank after one day so needs a wash. I should have left him a note to turn on the heater before he left for work, he brought me a cuppa in, but I assumed he had done it, his memory is dreadful, he can't remember a thing! By the time I woke up properly there was no time to heat the water and get to the hospital so I just took my time, and did get spruced up and out to do some errands so will have to make a big effort on Monday before he gets home from work, i.e. set my alarm to turn on the heater and then set it again an hour later, it takes so long to get enough water hot for a bath. Keep telling him he wouldn't have this problem if he had a proper central heating system but he has never wanted it, he doesn't feel the cold and managed ok when he was here alone after his wife and kids left. Can't imagine the mentality of someone who buys a house with no central heating in the 1980s with one toddler and another baby on the way, no wonder she left him! Not as if it is an old house to be done up, was only a few years old when he got it.
Anyway a few more days won't make any difference - would love them to find something easy to treat so I can feel as good as Eileen is, very pleased for you that life is so much better now, imagining a mountain goat lol
love to all, please excuse me not replying to everyone, still tired and my difficult couple of weeks now.
My Dad's 19th anniversary of his death yesterday and my late daughter's 35th birthday on 31st Jan etc etc I will feel lots better after Valentine's day, which is another day I don't like, hard to get a card for o.h. when they don't make the ones I want lol Will leave the wording to your imagination lol

love to all

Evening everyone, I have some good news tonight, I've added another twig to our family tree, another great-nephew for me - Robert Emlyn Owain. Have a photo on Facebook already, he looks just like his greatgrandfather. My parents would be so thrilled to know there are now 8 gt-grandchildren, 4 girls and now 4 boys. The new little man looks lovely, I am thrilled.
Been out this evening to IKEA to get a new bed for miniMary, on the way there I was complaining that my eyesight must be going, I could hardly see the road and there were no streetlights. Got to IKEA safly a 40 minute drive, when we came out of the shop I had a look at my headlights and they were completely obscured by salt and sand and dirty buildup. Went for a carwash and lo and behold the lights work now LOL. I've been afraid to get a car wash recently in case the locks would freeze, today is a bit milder so took a chance, it's only minus 6.
Now I am heading to bed, been a busy day and I'm working over the weekend, no peace for the wicked.
Sending hugs all round.
Mary

Morning all,

We had briliant sunshine up to about 30 minutes ago, so much so that the curtains had to be closed so I can see what I'm typing.

Looked out first thing to see the fence lying flat on the ground.Hmmm!

Liz, couldn't help gloating at feeling so much better.Wish it was just as easy to make you and all of us equally well.......
Thanks Ann and Claire for your good. Claire, your discription of the beach walk with puppy sounds delightful.

It is my grandson Douglas's 18th birthday today.I gave him money for him to pay for something to be built in in his car. It's an old one, which he has been doing up and making replairs etc. for months, sometimes helped by his dad.He will be taking a few lessons soon and hope to sit for the exam soon too.Sometimes it seems like yesterday that he was born.

Caz, I won't take me coat off, not stoppin'-said in a Yorkshire (?) accent, has bugged me for years.Wish I could find this out too.

Here's wishing all of you a good weekend, nice and peaceful, as pain-free as possible. Am hopeless at remembering names, so will not attempt to, just enveloping all of you in a big hug.

A big hi to everyone.

Clairejo, have been reading your thread and it is very informative. I have learnt so much from reading it.

Treehunter, you can always share with us. Would love to hear your findings.

How are the colds and flue going, Tinker and Sharron especially?

Ann in gloss, a Nelson knife, is a knife and fork combination. slightly L shaped, so the knife part can be rolled to cut food, the end has four prongs, just like a fork so food can be cut and eaten with the one piece of cutlery. It means I can cut up my own food and meat without someone else doing it. Great when eating out. The knife I have is nearly down to 2 prongs so I sometimes now loose food from the end. I also have a roller knife, which I use all the time as well, but when eating it means putting this knife down then picking up a fork, bit of a pain. Roller knife, when sharp is great for preparing food. You grip the roller knife more with a fist like action, different than using a normal knife, it is more like a curved L laying sideways. I can use any knife, as long as is sharp, for some reason the sharper the knife, the less likely I am to cut myself, I think mainly as not as much pressure is needed, so my hand does not slip down the blade. As you can probably guess, I love my toys. For a long time I would not eat out, as hated OH cutting up my food for me. Now if I have forgotten my knife I do not care.

A couple of years ago OH had to have his right arm operated on. He was so helpless, could not do anything for himself, so use of one arm me, had to help him. Was very funny really. He also realised how difficult it was for me to adjust, he also appreciated all the hard work I put into being able to be mainly self sufficient. Without my toys, life would be more difficult. Best toy is the dishwasher, the next is a steam mop. One other toy OH got for me is a set of battery run dusters, he loves them so much, he mostly does the dusting, money well spent. Another is a top of the range dyson vacuum, he loves it so much he vaccys twice a week, more money well spent. Could not ask for more now could I. Plus the fact he is a gentle giant and would do anything for me.

Well have to go and finish watering the gardens. Yes it is night, but so hot throughout the day, is better to water at night with a torch in tow.

Love and hugs

Gail

Cinders I have added to your thread. why not remove the contentious thread from chat and just leave the gen one.

Gail, thanks for that info, that is really interesting and I hadn't heard of a Nelson knife before. can see where the name comes from now though. it must be a real boon to be able to be self sufficient. Plus you, like me have a great OH who helps you so much.

Well done Cinders for removing the chat thread.

Hayley, we would appreciate please it if you would not spoil this thread which is a haven for people who are unwell and/or unhappy. yours is the first contentious post we have had on here. I am sure a message to cinders elsewhere would have been sufficient.
