Have to be quick, running out in 1/2 hour to drive kids to schol, meg to work and me to work, my employer has been brillint, cancelling my 3 afternoon shifts this week so I am free to pick the kids up from school and be with them for the evening, instead I'm going in, only when they are in school to work on the PC, entering information re the labwork required for 231 residents. Allows me to sit down and get paid. Then she's scheduled me in on the weekend while Colleen is home. Now I don't have to worry about a too-small pay next week.
Alison, glad to see you, Claire you are brilliant to remember so many names at once,
I've run out of my citalopram so I have to get to the clinic later today, 2 days without and I can feel things changing.
Things are reasonably Ok here, except for the profound cold, which my joints hate. Sarah has had 2 meltdowns this week due to Mum's absence I think, Gareth is showing his displeasure by throwing everything in sight, and hitting his sister. dear child, he's really good at saying he is sorry but it's as good as piecrust, made to be broken LOL. We only have to make it to Feb 19th, then their Mum will only be gone one day a week, for 3 weeks, then she's home.
Hugs to those who need them, and CAROLE, thank you for the stamps, what a surprise, I didn't know Tinkerbell could fly this far LOL.
hugs

Treehunter, great to get the old photos isn't it?

Mary, you are a gem in your family. Glad you have been given shifts to help with you having to look after the children. Hope their demeanor improves as the weeks go. I suppose it is their way of showing they miss Mum. pity you have to suffer for it though. Hope the time goes quickly for you and that you get warmer weather soon.

Thank you so much to Carole for you PM, it's greatly appreciated. The doctor has told me my blood tests were all normal so I've now been diagnosed with depression. I've been prescribed citalopram and my doc says he'll see how i go on them before deciding if i need to see a psychologist. It feels better to finally be able to put a name to the way I'm feeling.

I hope you've all had a good day, I know it's been cold but at least we've had some sunshine which makes everything seem a bit better.

Happy anniversary to Clairex

Hello everyone hope you are all well today.
Yes it is cold, but then what would I know? I feel cold on beautiful summer evenings!!
Okay so I am contrary, but it takes all sorts to make this world of ours ! ha ha ha
Have had a couple of good days., I managed a few good house jobs which made me feel *superior* ;-0) and watched the inauguration yesterday... quite landmark event in our world isn't it?
Today.... I'm suffering for the work I did... that is how it goes, isn't it?
Either headaches, the pains of artheritis, my other more unmentionable problems or depression.
*We pays our money and we takes our pick.*
No wonder we celebrate when we have a good day.
Anyway, as I said... been having a good time for a couple of days, just have to enjoy it while it is here.
Hope you all are having a break from your problems if only for a day or two... it gives a bit of a rest doesn't it?

Well all of you look after yourself and REST when it all starts to overtake your mind... it does help.
Got to go as I am tired and talking rubbish njow.... sorry...
Love to all

Shazlou hi good job you came off those pills x

I MISS GOING TO WORK

I take my uncle to leg club every week and, because somebody had died suddenly,I stood in as receptionist a couple of weeks ago.It wasn't hard and it actually caused a bit of aggro( tee-hee) with an officious committee member but it put a bit of a spring in my step.

I used to hate deadlines and structure, thinking I wanted time to myself.Well, now the old man can do so much for himself,I don't have much structure and I don't get much done either.

Hoovering doesn't need to be done right now,nor does ironing. Now I have dust bunnies the size of wallabies who hop about in the shadow of something like the Alps.

Every week there is money in the bank when I haven't been out to earn it.I DON'T LIKE IT!

I feel better for that rant.Somebody please place their size nine against the rear facing part of my anatomy.

I thang you.

Carole Report 22 Jan 2009 10:33

I know what you mean Sharron, when I was off work for four months with depression I sat and let the house dust get thicker and didn't care. But as I got better the dust no longer bothered me so I left it still. Even now I go to work three days a week, but have no desire to hoover, dust, change beds, clean, iron, it can all wait. The less time I have the more I get routine. More time everything can wait!

BETTY!!!! ((((xxx)))) lovely to see you. When my son was little he had severe speech problems and no one wanted to be left with him! Family didn't want him. It hurts doesn't it x

Colin I knew Betty would understand

Not much sunshine over the last few days as very overcast, and very very humid and hot. Finally we have a little rain today. Have been trying to keep water up on plants and trees but has been a loosing battle. It started to look like autumn here as the heat and dry was affecting the trees so badly they were dropping their leaves, even the gums. The horrid hot winds have not helped either.

Sharron know what you mean, my house was spotless when I was working. Not now though, I do wonder at times where the dust comes from, it must be the borrowers come out at night and sprinkle it everywhere. Same with dust bunnies. The house does get vacuumed at least twice a week, but the dust bunnies must creep out of the vacuum and scatter everywhere again. I have a great dyson cleaner, but it does not help. I have been going to dust the lounge room for the past week and do not seem to get the time.

I would love money in the bank every week, even if I did not earn it. I am not entitled to anything as OH works.

I know a few of you have a cold, so hope you are feeling much better soon.

I am waiting on delivery of a new Nelson Knife, the one I have is almost worn out, was second hand and a gift when I got it and only has three prongs left, not long and will only have two. I have a roller knife and a couple of cheese knives and use these all the time as well. I am just excited to have a new one.

Love and hugs

The wheelchair is coming back on Monday.La la la la.

Don't think it is lots of money Gail.Dad's pension and the huge amount they pay me to save them the cost of caring for them.

Can't complain,it is enough. As long as I can pug a bit away I am happy.

I think I might get him out to work when the chair is back too!

GranOfOzRubySlippers Report 23 Jan 2009 01:43

Sharron, was not picking on you. I would just like to have my own spending money. If I need a new bra or knickers I have to ask if it is okay. OH usually says just get what you need, but I ask anyway. I got used to having my own money, as started work at 14 years old and always worked until my accident. I always had to support myself. If I need a new bra I could budget and supply it myself. Now I always feel I need to ask. OH says I do not. Being independent for so many years, I have now made it difficult for myself. It took me ages to ask if I could try and find a new knife. I know it sounds stupid but even now I feel badly when I spend money that OH has earned. He continually says it is not his but ours.

We only had 2 ml of rain and desperately need more.

Sorry folks, feeling very tired this week, keep falling asleep on the sofa, not a pretty sight lol

Gail, I just want to say I hope you can start to feel you can take your o.h's word that it's ok to buy what you need. It sounds a shame that you feel you have to ask before you buy what is a necessity really, not a frippery. eg bra or knife. Can you not take it as being your 'wages' for helping to keep the home ticking over and doing all you do there, after all your o.h. would be lost without you doing lots of the things you do and the company you provide etc etc. so you deserve some recompense and as he says what's his is yours, or rather you share what is in the pot so entitled to use some.
To everyone else, hope you are all ok and fighting the good fight.

Am sort of hoping if I can get to the hospital later today and get the blood tests done, it shows something up (nothing too drastic) so that I could maybe get some treatment that would leave me feeling a bit more lively than of late.

Take care,
love
Lizxx

Hi Everybody, I won't take my coat off, I'm not stopping. Oh who was it that used to say that? Not been very well so been keeping quiet and resting, not slept much since my scan, my back was so painful after lying down for all that time, I can't lay flat and they didn't even give me a pillow for under my knees. I managed to get some sleep last night but then the pain of FM kicks in when I have stayed in one position a long time.
Yesterday I was in bed with a jippy tummy and an awful headache, going back today as well, it's nearer the bathroom lol.
Go to hospital on Wednesday for result of scan.
If your looking in Liz I got your message on answer machine, I was in bed and hubby had gone to garage for milk, I'll be in touch when I feel better.

Love and hugs to all

I had a great, long reply to this thread, but it seems to hava vanished into to ether. Never mind.Like Bruce, keep starting again until you succeed.

Deanna, chat with daugher Fiona was a good one, and eye-opener. She wants us to go to London a.s.a.p. Will have to see when this is poss. as Andrea, who lives in northern Wales a stone's throw from their eldest, Indra, whi is especting son number 2 in march. She wants me there around the birth of him, as does Indra.Difficult, because the other 3 remaining g.children in Brittany also ask when I am thinking of going to visit with them, and my kids in Amsterdam who want me to go there.

Carole, definitely no feelings on my part, it's my ex. who is saying these things, and seems to have such regrets about the way he treated me in the past.I certainly don't want any closer realion with him.....You ARE a cheekt devil, have to laugh with you though.Just the idea. Have to admit that Fiona, one the most cynical opponents of both my ex. and me, said she would like nothing better than us getting together again....not in MY lifetime we won't.

Ann, I am not having so many problems with this pc. since I said "no more 'funnies' etc. Must have it cleaned etc. though, and pretty soon, but will have to make backups first.

Betty, thanks for asking about me.

It is now more than 3 weeks since starting with the medication for this thyroid problem, and now feel like a new person, in fact, I feel great. No mpore shakes, no more sweating or being boiling hot all the time, no more being exhausted by climbing upstairs or even eating. The latter was sooo wierd.Taking medication of a morning made me exhausted, this will say just how bad I was. Couldn't go down down on my knees anymore, because I couldn't get back up. Now I am like a mountain goat again.

Just think what could have happened, I could certainly have had a cardiac arrest, the worst secnario, or a heart attack at the very least. Our GP has a lot to answer for...

On another, lighter note, who likes Leonard Cohen? One of is songs (written and composed by him) called 'Alexandra Leaving'. Which is mind-blowing, as are several of his songs. Such great poetry., and such a sexy voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has the WOW factor.

It is now going inot the 4th week of the meds, and I feel sooooo good, a different person, or maybe the old one with extra support.Have no nasty side affects, no bad feelings as I did before, so just wonderdful again!!!!!

Love to all from Eileen xx

Hello everyone, hadn't realised I have not been on this thread for a couple of days. been into town and out for the grocery shopping but when I have been at home I have been working on my scrap book. Scrapping old photos of the grandchildren and having great fun with it. pleased with the results too.

Eileen, i am so pleased that you are feeling well, thank goodness they got it sorted out at last.

Caz, hope you will soon be feeling much better.

Claire, can picture you on the beach wit your puppy. when we lived near the sea and had a dog ( a poodle) the first time we took her to the beach she chased a seagull and when the gull took off over the water she ran straight in looking up as if to say 'why can't I do that?'.

Betty, lovely to see you back on here again.

Gail, You must train yourself not to be so independent. You keep house, you do lots of things for your OH of course you don't have to ask him for money. What is a Nelson Knife?

Carole, hope you soon get rid of your cold

Everyone else, hope all those who are/were poorly will soon feel better.
