I have had two successes on my family tree today.

A 1750 will and the long awaited baptism of a London ancestor in 1750, just that as his name was unusual, it was harder to find but a member of Family Tree Forum helped me as the surname is Huguenot. A 5 year search done with.

Welcome Frank, the tantrums will stop. I think it is more frustration with ourselves and feel that others do not understand us at all.

My biggest problem was acceptance that this is the way things are, and will be for the rest of my life. Once I accepted that I was able to move on. I now make the most of what I have, some days it is more and some days it is less. I do what I am able to do on any given day.

My depression is stabilised with medication. I also have constant nerve pain and this is also stabilised with meds.

When I finally got over the fact that I could not go back to the way I was, I made a new life for myself and my husband. I also was not the same person I was. My husband had to adjust to that as well.

It takes time, we cannot change what has happened, we can make our life better though. You are now talking to us and that is a great achievement.

Keep your brain busy, family tree research has been a lifesaver for me. It is like putting a jigsaw together. Very stimulating. If you need a hand with yours lets us know. We can help if you get stuck.

My husband now knows when to back off and leave me to it, I do most things myself now. As a carer he copped so much from me and is still here, for that I feel blessed.

Ben, you are so motivated with your tree, and really doing a fine job. I am glad you are pleased with you new job and doing well.

Ann I am so sorry about your loss, I know I have done the same thing when my children were little. Having lost a child I know the hurt this causes.

Hi all, Well I survived first day of o.h's hols, he did a bit more to the shower installation and did a back up on computer as well as cleaned it out inside with the vac cleaner lol He is doing more tiling tomorrow and then grouting the next day as well as other bits and pieces round the house and garden so might have a shower working by end of the week. Shame he hasn't sorted heating out in bathroom yet so it's not very welcoming but hopefully we can go and get some kind of heater if only a towel warmer to take the chill off and make the towels warm before use.
Wish me luck, two more days of him here 24/7 and I can't get online while he is awake lol

Hi there, whomever is still awake - Liz, you there?-It's almost 1:00 am, I've been trying to text Carole since midnight, cannot figure out what is the problem, tried it without any extra codes, with International and England code, with and without the '0' in front. It takes me so long to text a message . .. just had a thought, perhaps I don't have texting on my phone contract . . . duh - I'll trying phoning her mobile # in the morning.
this is exciting. Made more complex because I like to think my brain is still young enough to understand all these new gadgets!!
I had a new contact through Rootsweb this week and thought I finally had a connection with my 3xgtgrandfather's brother. Sadly I think we are 2 generations apart in the 1700's, sure there may be a connection but just cannot close the link. What was the matter with some of my rellies, left me no good clues, didn't they know I'd be interested (read obsessed) in the mysteries of my heritage.

I have several rellies coming out of the woodwork, one Gt.Uncle and one Gt.Aunt still unaccounted for but the others I have made contact with their relatives which is lovely.
Must get to bed, it is 6.15am and he will be making lots of noise later fixing back some wood panels in the bathroom now the shower is fitted.

Gail and Frank.It is interesting to read your input.I don't think my dad is having the depressive thoughts.He has always been one to make his displeasure evident,a form of bullying I think,and has had one or two of these performances since he has been home but only mildly. I asked him what he thought he was going to do about it then,a much more satisfying form of bullying,and he has not bothered since.In fact,now he has the household worries completely taken from him,he is quite an amenable old gentleman.So much so that I hardly recognize him.

Do you think your anger and depression are caused by the stroke or the frustration of living with the consequences? I know of one man who used to stand in the front garden each morning crying his eyrs out as his wife cycled off to her part-time job.

Whatever the cause I do hope it will leave you.

Sharron I think the anger and depression are from frustration and living with the after effects. My depression is fairly under control, except for Brother, but that is another story. The anger I have not had for about 3 years. Most of depression I have now is pain related.

As far as your dad being different, part and parcel of being disabled. It changes you as a person.

As a carer my husband need a break every now and then, usually that involves playing snooker one morning a week. Does not sound much I know, but that is his time. He also keeps down a full time job. So now I do as much as I can re house work and gardening. I do watch for him getting tired though or out of sorts.

When husband left for work I too used to cry my eyes out, him being away at work made me become more independent. Sharron, what you do for your dad, keeping him busy and getting him to do things is just great. He need to be able to do as much as he can.

I do the washing at home and Oh hangs it out and brings it in, I then sort and fold. My sister took offence at me doing the washing stating "any fool can press a button". She got a shock when I told her it was very important to this fool.

I have a lot of help from OH, we still bottle fruit and make jam, and it is great working together doing this. Also meal preparation we do together as well, I do most of the cooking.

You want to know any more, just ask.

Morning all, just had a quick call from Carole, they are on their way to Niagara Falls, so I hope to meet up with her later today. or tomorrow morning.
We've had more excitement this week but all is settled now.
My older daughter was sick, as a result had a nosebleed, my granddaughter told her (challenged) auntie that Mummy was "throwing up blood", auntie Meg ran next door to the neighbour. next thing they know there's an ambulance, paramedics and the fire department, because the message was passed on that she was haemorrhaging. All is well, she's fully recovered, just waiting now for the invoice for the ambulance she didn't use!!
can't say it's dull around here.
Think we've kicked the fleas out of the house.
A beautiful sunny day, the Falls are always more spectacular when the sun is shining - the view is better from the Canadian side due to local topography.
Lots to do today before I go gallivanting . . .

Mary, what an 'exciting' life you and your family lead. I suppose the 'interference' was well meaning so nobody could complain.

Gail, what a good job you and your OH can work together at the jobs. It must help a lot that you get on well.

Lucky Carole, I remember the first time I saw Niagara Falls, it took my breath away, so much water, never ending. My OH was there one year when the falls were frozen, he took photos, quite spectacular. Can you imagine why people try to go over the falls in various contraptions? I can't. When I stood by them I felt a sort of pull towards the water, quite scary. we didn't go on the boat trip but I believe that is impressive too.

But the town of Niagara itself!!!! Yuk Very grotty.

I am trying to stay away for a week... but have popped back for an update on the poorlies.

Hair dye is totally wrong color (should be violet and is PINK) so clashed with my dress last week, not impressed! but had a good time.

Aren't Brussels sprouts marvelous?He on wheels had been down the road to get some and this afternoon he was quiet for hours while he prepared them.He said he couldn't cut the cross in the bottom with one hand but I worked out a way.That gave me another hour of peace.
