Eileen, I am sure you have absolutely no need at all to feel guilty about taking your Mum and Aunt to Holland, or about having to put your Aunt into a nursing home. You did your best in difficult circumstances and I am sure your Aunt understood. I think it was wonderful of you to organise having them both with you, it can't have been easy. |

Eileen my grandmother had a stroke and after her husband died grandma lived a week at my aunts house sleeping on their sofa then after bingo on a Wednesday night my parents took her home with them for a week on their sofa as my sister and I were still at home, all in a two bedroom bungalow. Each Wednesday after bingo grandma would go home with aunt or my mum for a week. This wasn't a good arangement my aunt had a comode at the side of her dinner table as she lived in a very small house and there was nowhere else to put it!! So mum went to see her mums doctor after a few months of this,to see if they could get her into a nursing home. My mum feels guilty to this day. And now nurses my dad who is paralised and has no speech after a stroke four and a half years ago. Dad (79 today) went into hospital Tuesday night after having really bad pain in his sciatic nerve. So mum will have a bit of a break. But dad not being able to comunicate will feel like your aunty. You might be able to give me some advice how to help him. xx |

Hello Kath, and welcome. Your daughter sounds as if she is hurting badly, and it must be so hard to stand by and not be able to do anything to help. Your daughter has had some bad things thrown at her all together and she won't be able to make sense of them. It sounds like she is depressed but won't be able to see that for herself. My depression started with a lot being thrown at me all at once, different situation but all basically the same result in the end. Do you think you could get her to see her doctor, maybe go with her for backup. Is she still seeing her ex? I was thinking it might be wise to stay away from him for the time being. |
