Jennifer I'm sorry you came out feeling worse than when you went into the doctors. Not a very helpful consultation then was it! Deep depression is not with you all the time, it's like a roller coaster there are up's and downs. Waiting for anything on the NHS is a pain in the a***. But when a woman wants a baby the urge is not something that you can turn off while you wait for help now is it!! My neighbourgs daughter paid for three lots of ivf and did a lot of work fighting for women to get ivf on the NHS. This girl now has beautiful twins, her face the day she came to tell her mum she was pregnant was beautiful I'll always remember it. So what plans do you think you will make to help yourself get better? Perhaps you should see your regular doctor next time, s/he will know you better and hopefully not make such hurtful statements. In the mean time make yourself carry out a small routine daily it will help you stop getting into a deeper depression. Build on it so you are pushing your self to try to do a little more, but also give yourself time, time to relax and sleep when you need to. Day at a time you'll get better xxx |

hi at the moment not really sure what to do about anything. trying my hardest to stay positive as my husband leaves on monday to go to siberia for 5 weeks for work. i know he doesn't want to leave me when i'm feeling this low, but i don't want him to worry about me. my family & friends are great so they'll make sure i'm ok. i only joined this site 2 days ago, but everyone has been so helpful & supportive so for that i'd like to say a big thank you to you all. i feel now that i have somewhere to go & talk to someone if i'm feeling down & that helps. |

Cor Betty, you are so clever, remembering all those responses, I am not very with it at the mo, and can't do that, so haven't replied much so as not to leave anyone out. So glad you are feeling a bit more able to cope. Hope things get even better for you. Glad M is doing ok and hope your lad is well now, and has some luck with a job. |

Just found this topic and so pleased I did. Today I"m having a dreadful day one of my worst in days. Yesterday was a day I broke down in front of my friends and yes they don;t understand They think they are helping but I just wish they would shut up. That may sound mean but that 's how I felt at the time. I have to say that I'm alot bett than a few months back. My depression is Clinical and will be on med. for life. the tablet I take is Celapram 2 tablets aday [I live in WA. Aust.and that is one of the brands we use here. ] When told of the condition it was explained like this, In the old days when we had cement water tanks and were filled with water , the water would seep out through the tiny cracks on the side walls and the tanks then would have to be topped up to keep it full. Like wise for us the cemicals leach and we have to top up with tablets which in turns becomes an on going thing , a life time effort.. I thought the discription was really easy to understand. Hope it helps someone. Regards, Trish. |

Hi Patricia from another Clinical Depression sufferer - although with my medication, Venlafaxine - I no longer suffer and feel absolutely fine, but will have to take them for the rest of my life. My GP said no problem with having to do that so I just get on with it. Venlafaxine is also called Effexor by the way. You will find everyone on this board is very helpful and will meet people who suffer from all sorts of mental illness - just remember, it is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of - it's an illness like mumps or flu, so talk about it whenever you can and try and get people to stop treating you as if you have a stigma. There is little underwstanding of any form of mental illness by non-sufferers - they need educating!!! and we hope that on this thread that is exactly what we are doing. |
