	In the north east there were department stores called Doggetts. It's still a saying of disbelief round here, as in "If that's the case I'll bare my 'bottom' in Doggetts window.

Member Since: March 2005 Posts: 3,307 Send Message	I remember Hanburys.My mum had one in her little precinct when she moved to Whitefield,Think I've seen one in Didsbury area quite recently.There is a Gym where the Precinct was now.A lot of places I don't recognise!

	Freeman Hardy & Willis. Had my first saturday job there. I was paid 98p an hour. Also Curtess and Truform all shoe shops & Barretts Sandra (hello again)

	Most Hanbury's were taken over by co-op, used to work there as well, maybe it's something to do with me!!! Karen

	Hi Karen, They closed in the 70s, so in our town you give your age away if you know what Doggetts means. Obviously it's just what older people tell me......
