The old boards were terribly scarey and green!! They looked like they were from the original computer images off star trek and there was lots of shouting and arguing and then also there was lots of hugs and fun !

Is more sort of up to date now a la that Dr who place in Cardiff lol

Have just read all the way through this thread it makes for very good reading, and a better understanding.

I think there maybe..but you can you read all your threads from ages ago..lol

One thing I have wondered about is are there less threads to a page now........we do have less posts on each page of a thread.

hi lil,well theres a book in the making there,lol.but you,ve made some good points.see i always see things differently,i think now its so much easier for peeps to post.theres always someone who will have a comment to add to your post.and also if threads shoot off page one maybe its coz theres not many who can add to it at that time.ie morning crew/evening crew.i love a good debate,and we get some good ones.all par of the course.xxx

What a great thread Kitty. There are so many points I agree with and some I don't but all have been stated in such a sensible and informative way so far.

I have learned much from it and would like to add that it has given me the courage to add to any thread that is of interest to me regardless of who posts it. I may make some mistakes and hope to be forgiven for them. I hope never to ignore anyone and apologise now if it seems that I do, as it won’t be intentional. Anyone deliberately causing trouble will of course be ignored at the time and hopefully they will learn not to on other threads.

The fun threads are ok in moderation as I also believe there should be a chance for others to post without being knocked off the page, but the happiness of some days is sometimes portrayed by them and makes a lot of us smile, as long as others rights to post and be read are taken into account….in short…imo ...a happy medium should be found which should lead to more diversity of subjects being displayed on the first page.

If I add to any threads that take a turn for the worse it will not have been my intention to add to any hurt of others.

Sometimes the written word can be taken very personally when the intention was the opposite or non existent. There is now a preview button and one suggestion would be.....use it, and count to ten before posting anything that may be construed as being contentious ( me included lol ).

If I add to one thread it does not mean I agree with the poster on all their views on other threads....some I find distasteful for numerous reasons and try to avoid them whenever possible, but do understand that it takes all sorts to make a world.

As in real life, we can’t be expected to agree with everyone but we can try to be polite and caring of others views without animosity, as this thread shows in the majority of postings.

This is a thread that should help us move on.....sniping or moaning about what has happened before just upsets onlookers and the innocent and only fuels more animosity imo.

Those who say the boards were great before.....bring some of it back!, it sounded Interesting :-) , but let us also remember newer posters have a lot to offer too and would like to do so with confidence.....all we need to do is rid the boards of animosity, if there is any, this should happen gradually with all doing our bit.....that, imo, is initially up to us, not GR. The rules are there for all to see and an abuse link to use for that purpose.

I hope my words don’t make me sound like a goody two shoes as I am far from that…..I just like peace and harmony with a few innocent laughs thrown in now and then. Let there be give and take by all. I have made friends with lots of people with differing views but do not agree with all of them. What a boring world it would be if we all agree.

The one thing we should all agree on is courtesy and understanding and that is up to us all.

I have learned in my short time of being on the boards….not to take so much to heart and have a break now and then if feeling ‘off colour’ as interpretations of some threads can be taken personally when feeling low. I respect others reasons for not posting on some threads as that is their prerogative and hope they will also respect mine and others.

In my opinion we should now get on with trying to make the board a place for all to enjoy their research, make friends, and join in with anyone, if the interest is there, regardless of who posts, with the knowledge that we are welcome.

Sorry for the long winded statement…..don’t usually say me bit…..but when I do …..don’t I go on lol….

i think ALL members can be capable of abuse OR supporting the abusers,as ive said before it depends where you stand.
i remember after being on the site just 3 months,and was subject to a well known members spite.i did,nt know why,i know now.i,d spoken to someone that person did,nt like.
to this day we dont get on,i dont want that person as a friend,i can ignore.it dont bother me at all.
but.........im more than happy that other members talk to this person.im not bothered at the least.whats one persons poison is another persons honey.
people must make there own minds up.not be forced into a situation like that.

Hi everyone,
I have only been a member for just over 2 years so was not around when the site was new so I can only comment on the last 2 years.
The site has changed in the last 2 years and so have many things in life.I still find it a good place to visit. There are some lovely people on here. A lot of people have left and that is sad but a lot of new people have joined and that is good.
I find that since the change on here (the new layout) it seems to have settled down nicely.
I hope you all continue to enjoy the boards and have fun.
