I agree Stella, I have been divorced once and am bringing up son alone with no help etc from my ex. I concentrate on my sons needs and as long as he is happy I am. I have a friend who is divorced and she has to have a man in her life. Her son isn't happy as her last one was violent and her son said to me when she met the latest that he is not going to be made to call this one dad. Poor kid he is so insecure.

country girl, i never had any help either but i never stopped my boy from knowing his father, now he is 18, lovely lad , well adjusted , no hang ups he sees his father for what he is for himself, i have never poisoned his mind. my ex has had 3 more children with different women since i divorced him . my boy knows who his best friend is and who stayed the course. I never took up with another man,all my love has been for my child stella x

Stella my ex was a coward and to escape him involved a restraining order and other charges which I took the whole way and he was found guilty. He has disappeared and has never made any attempt to contact his son. I don't run him down to my son, he asks a question and I answer in a way a child can understand, have kept photos of him and my son can look any time he likes. I can say for sure if he turned up now wanting to see him I would not allow it, wont go into it but dangerous person and no way he would be allowed to take my son out for the day. If my son wants to look for him when he is older he can do so, that way he can decide for himself if he wants to know him, that is if his father wants to know him?

think you are right CG, it is better for him to find out for himself what his father is like, he will realise with time that when it mattered most his mum was always there any way neither of us has has anything to thank our exes for except our beautiful boys stella x
