I'm sure it was Rayners Avenue that my brother had a house in years ago. Must have been in the 70's.

I spent most of my weekend in your lovely county. Went for a long walk in the sunshine down by the canal starting out from Wilstone and ending up at the pub! Life is great sometimes ! Rick.

Len, Your mention of the bluebells reminded me of glorious walks in the woods when we were first married and we lived in Beautiful Beechy Buck!! Happy times. Elisabeth

badger Report 24 Apr 2004 19:38

The bluebells, and cowslips take me right back to my walks in the beechwoods, and fields as a kid.i aint half getting old, i doubt if there is much of the fields left now ,if they hav,nt gone altogether ,and the woods likewise i should,nt wonder. I remember the pease pudding, made locally, and the bacon badger my mum used to make ,bacon ,shredded cabage ,and onion, loverlyeeee. Denis

Denis There are still plenty of fields and woodlands in Bucks. My brother-in-law, who farms in Somerset, recently came to stay and conceded that it was probably a more beautiful county than his. Got bluebells and cowslips in my garden. Inspected them today and, regretably, the bluebells will have to be replaced as I realised they are Spanish imports which are different from the original English variety and are menacing our own species. To the compost with them! (before they cross-pollinate) Len

I take it you are on about the Spanish squill Len,the wife has some in the garden ,but if it has as you say started to destroy our native species ,its coming out. Only trouble is ,where to get the real i am,? up here you now get done for removing it from the wild[rightly too] but can i buy some legit, somewhere.Denis.

Bacon badger used to have suet pastry rolled around bacon pieces, mince, onions and cabbage as far as I remember - well, that's how I cooked it last time.
