They released a new album a year ago. Been pretty quiet since then. Then don't have official web site, but fan sites. have been in touch with one about four months ago to see when they are in Britain again, but no response!! Still think best album is 'date with Elvis', although fave track , from 'smell of female' live album, 'you got good taste' Steph x

Steph, I saw the Cramps a couple of times and thought they were fab! Once was in Brixton with Mega City Four and Blur as support. That must have been about 13 or 14 years ago. Are they still on the go?

FOR PIXIES LOVERS - Copied this from the 4AD section of the Beggars website... They have also confirmed for V Festival 21/22 August 2004. The Pixies Reunion THE PIXIES MAKE IT OFFICIAL THE REUNION IS REAL Band to Play Series of Warm Up Dates, Co-Headline Coachella Festival, Head to Europe They're talking, they're rehearsing, and they're going to perform together for the first time in more than a decade. The Pixies, acclaimed as the most influential pioneer of the late '80s alt/rock movement, and who effectively blazed the path for groups like Nirvana, Radiohead and Pearl Jam to rise to superstardom, have officially confirmed their much-anticipated reunion. The original line-up - Frank Black/vocals, guitar; Joey Santiago/guitar; Kim Deal/bass; and David Lovering/drums - are already holed up in a Southern California rehearsal space working together for the first time since they disbanded in 1993. In April, The Pixies will kick off an 11-city "warm up" tour of North America, marking the first time they've toured together since 1992's massive "ZOO TV" in support of U2. This string of dates will culminate on May 1 when the band co-headlines (with Radiohead and Kraftwerk) the first night of this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival to be held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, CA. The band will then embark on a European tour starting May 28 and ending July 10. The Pixies formed in Boston in 1986 when Charles Thompson dropped out of college and convinced his friend and roommate, Joey Santiago, to do the same. The two recruited bassist Kim Deal who suggested drummer David Lovering join the group, and the lineup was made official. Thompson adopted the stage name Black Francis and the group named themselves The Pixies after flipping through a dictionary. The Pixies quickly gained a cult following as well as critical acclaim for their signature blend of screaming punk noise, indie guitar rock, classic pop, and surf rock riffs mixed with impossible-to-ignore melodic hooks and Francis' bizarre lyrics about religion, UFOs and metaphysics - their own unique sound. During their six years together, The Pixies released five albums on 4AD - "Come on Pilgrim" (1987); "Surfer Rosa" (1988); "Doolittle" (1989); "Bossanova" (1990) and "Trompe Le Monde" (1991). Experiencing particular success in the U.K. and Europe, The Pixies played sold-out festivals and received a multitude of fan, peer and critical acclaim - the U.K.'s NME named "Doolittle" the "Second Best Album Ever." The band's influence was far-reaching; U2's Bono referred to The Pixies as "one of America's greatest bands ever;" David Bowie called their work "just about the most compelling music of the entire '80s," and Kurt Cobain, who identified "Surfer Rosa" as his favorite album of that entire decade, confessed, when writing "Smells Like Teen Spirit," that, "Basically, I was ripping off The Pixies." Tour dates for The Pixies' reunion tour will be announced shortly

Sorry Janet, Just realised you were after Cult t-shirt and I asked mail order about Pixies. Will check tomorrow but to be honest I doubt they'll have any hanging around now. Will check with the warehouse and see what I can find in there too. Naomi

The Pixies are reforming?! What fantastic news. I just love them. I also saw Stiff Little Fingers last year and thought they were fab. I was pregnant at the time but still got quite close - no stage diving for me though!!! Anyone here used to like Mega City Four? I got into them after the goth stuff. I saw them so many times I lost count. They were just fab! Aaah, I am getting all nostalgic!

Hi All, I was a little bit late for the "real" Goth thing but in 1991 aged 18 I did have black hair, a lot of black eyeliner, long skirts with little mirrors on the bottom, and a cool line in baggy jumpers with assorted holes. For all the Cult, Bauhus, Pixies lovers etc.. I work at Beggars Banquet and we have an excellent back catalogue and online ordering system www.beggars(.)com Pixies are reforming, doing the V2 festival and touring in the summer. Beggars are also re-releasing back catalgue. Naomi

Ok i'll be the first man to reply,i was a punk (still am) and used to go to lots of festivals. My kids all like punk/hardcore bands as well as the "normal" pop stuff. I used to make my own bondage trousers etc. My youngest can't wait to grow up so he can wear my leather jacket! And today i went to a record fair and picked up a "Peter and the Test tube babies" LP i've been after for years. And it's pretty strange to hear all my old favorites on playstation games and my lads asking if i have any of them. Steve.

Aww what a thread My husband loves The cult and saw them at Manchester Apollo I used to love Siouxsi and the Banshees the damned and the Jesus and Mary Chain Dont dress as Goth as I did at one time but still feel happy in black and loads of black eye liner and black nail varnish!! And could watch the Brandon Lee film The Crow over again for the soundtrack. I remember looking awe at the punks who use to hang round boots in Manchester Arndale. My kids love Good Charlotte and Im v proud.

She sells Sanctuary - all time fav of The Cult alongside Zap City and a few more that i can't get out of my head right now LOL! Brings back memories of The dead keenedys too. Hubby used sugar water to hold up his for ever changing coloured Mohican. When I look back all my mates looked the same all dressed in BLACK. The eye make up on my best friend was just black kohl under and over the eye - used to take her ages to get the darn stuff off. I never took to the hours she would take in gelling back combing and spraying. I convinced myself that I was unique in not looking like them all - who was I kidding, my parents would never have allowed it LOL!! Now my daughter has just gone out with her dad in her 1000 zip pvc jacket, tartan trousers, black t shirt, one spider earing in one ear and a skull in the other, Black lipstick and eyes so black her blue eyes look stunning. Oh well life moves on and in circles girlies. Debi : )

Steph

Steph Report 20 Mar 2004 13:37

oh Estelle, what memories, I use to make my own clothes too! I'd tye dye loads of old material and make skirts (long and tight) and tops. I use to go to 2nd hand shops and buy 60's curtain material and make that into tops!!! Still listen to the Cramps and b52's!! Have 1 six year old daughter who's into Red Hot Chili Peppers, so she's stepping in the right direction! Steph ;-)))

Estelle

Estelle Report 20 Mar 2004 13:19

Steph, see, you're not alone! I was still at school (6th form) when I was a goth but did get to see a few bands - mostly the Mission, the Cult and the Batfish Boys. Even now, listening to their stuff brings a nostalgic tear to my eye! I used to make my own skirts - I just sewed the black material into a tube shape and added the elastic to the waist. The tighter and longer the skirt the better! I started dyeing my hair when I was about 28 and still do it now. These days it is more to cover the grey bits!! I don't listen to goth stuff any more, more punky stuff , even though I am a housewife and Mum! My 3 year old loves Busted which is a step in the right direction!!!

Steph

Steph Report 20 Mar 2004 11:32

thankyou Estelle & Deborah! Thought I must be the only 30 something (36 to be exact) who was 'different!!' I was poor student , so didn't go to many gigs, but did get to see the mighty Cult, play at the Fridge in Brixton, and the Cramps at the De Montfort at Leicester!!! Re: crimping and back-combing, I use to wash my hair only once a week, 'cause it would take an age to get all the knots out, and a can of hairspray to get the mohican back up!! It's a wonder I have any hair left! Steph x
