I am`sitting here with tears streaming down my face :o( I just heard Bette Midler singing 'The wind beneath my wings' on the radio. It was played at my friend Jean's funeral and it always reminds me of her. I don't usually cry though, must be the wine! Sue

Oh Sue - want a list? A singing group I was a member of was taught 'Leaving Nancy' written by Eric Bogle sung by various people including Ronnie Drew. It was when my son was leaving home to join the Army and I couldnt sing it to the end without crying my eyes out. It was a song about a young Scotsman(Eric) leaving his mother at the station as he set of for a new life in Australia A few years later I stood at my gate and waved my son off again -this time as he left for Australia to live. hi sue there are a couple that make me cry but one in particular is Phil Collins-Against all odds, it reminds me of my dad, on the morning of his funeral i went to see him,i was talking to him and told him that he was the" only one that really knew me at all" and these words stick in my head when i was getting ready for the funeral i put the song on and played it over and over, when ever i hear it no matter where it makes me cry. tracy

Hi guys The song 'Everybody hurts' by REM does it for me every time, and worse when I've had a tipple, and I can't even listen to the song 'If' because it was played at my brother's funeral, and I would just be a blubbering heap on the floor if I did! Making me feel sad just thinking about it, ...sob...sob Lisa xx

Hi All, Loads of songs depending on what sort of mood I am in. I'm a real weepy. The one that does it every time though is The Way we Were sung by Barbra Striesland. The title says it all. Jean x.

It has to be Wind Beneath My Wings for me too. I chose it for my Husband's funeral last year. It didn't make me cry before then, but it sure does now. I only played & heard it once, the same night. I can't bring myself to play it again just yet. Lynda

Fields of Gold sung by Eva Cassidy. Even more so since being used for the Cancer research advert. The Rose sung by Bet Midler for no reason whatsoever - it is just one of those songs. Jacky :-)

I've got to agree with Lisa in Holland - Everybody Hurts by REM does it to me every time... plus lots of others, I find I pull out lyrics from songs that mean something to me all the time... recent songs by Starsailor, Alicia Keys, Snow Patrol, Muse... they're all struck a chord.. I'll explain who all those are to some of the oldies if required ;-) Abide with Me always makes my mother cry - in fact she normally leaves the room when it comes on (at teh cup final for instance). No-one's ever explained why though...
