I prefer girls' names to have more than one syllable, l think they sound more feminine somehow! I like the old ones that are popular again like Daisy, Millie, Eliza, Molly, etc.

It has to be Annabelle because the cutest, bossiest little madam I know is called that. Also Imogen, Caroline, Georgina, Mary and Elizabeth. For me it is all tied up with the person I know named that. I have an unreasonable dislike of the names Charlotte and Kate!!! Abigail

Julie

I rather like some of the old-fashioned girl's names I've come across in my tree: Beatrice Constance Clara Eliza Alice Emily Amelia They don't sound so stuffy as the men's names from the same era. Rick.

Julie, did you have boys first, because a girl was a surprise for us? For some reason I expected to have a another big lad and had Huw Alastair Iain for him. I now have the daintiest little girl who'd been blessed in church before we had decided on her name!!! Abigail

Ann Up until a few years ago the I never knew what Siobhan was pronounced. It wasnt till I worked with a woman with the name and she told me how it was spelt I just could not believe it. I always want to say Si o ban. But it is a nice name My little girl is called Chenise, and when I was pregnant again I was convinced I was having another girl and was going to call her Olivia. But I had a boy I ended up calling him Benjamin but we call him Ben. Even though I wanted another girl I would never be without him. Well perhaps sometimes when he is being naughty. debbie

Sorry this is a bit 'off topic' but , having been cheated of Siobhan (in the nicest possible way - I love my sons to bits) my no 1 son was named Gregory Richard Edwards Gau partially after family tradition. When he was about 2 the GP said to me - did you name him deliberately so his initials spelt GREG?
