Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 30 Apr 2004 14:10

Hello everyone and thank you for your messages yesterday! Couldn't get on-line as hubby was hogging it ALL day - then I worked this morning. a n y w a y .... as Karen said, I've got to have TWO crowns - the one next to the broken one is cracked too. Thank goodness they are both the same side. Have got to go back on 24 May and I will be sedated - an injection in the hand that makes most people fall asleep. Have to be supervised for 24 hours afterwards - not allowed to cook or even lift a boiling kettle!!! That's the silver lining!! Hubby is still recovering from hearing the cost - £250.00!!!! I am really pleased that I don't need any other work though - no fillings today mum! And once he has cleaned them, now I have given up smoking for over a year - they will be and stay the cleanest they have been for years!!! Thanks again to everyone for your support and stories - glad to see I'm not the only one!! Maz. XX

Hi Maz Glad you got though today ok - good luck for the return trip at the end of May. Like somebody else (sorry can't remember who now) - I used to faint every time as a teenager. I grew out of that - and at the moment I have a brilliant dentist. Actually trust him. I never even felt the injection last month - when I had to have a feeling replaced. Liz

I had to go to the dentist about a month ago for two fillings which i was really dreading as i've never had any before. That nice hubby of mine kept telling me that 'it wrecks' and 'don't look at the needle' so you can imagine what state i got myself into when the day came to go, palpitations wasn't in it!! But having got there (just about), i sat down and told the dentist that i was a bit worried and d'ya know what, i need not have been. Never hardly felt a thing but my hubby did when i got home!! lol after i'd finished slavvering (spelling?) everywhere! Tracey

Maz, When you read this you can laugh because it will all be over. I do sympathize, I hate the dentist and am a nervous wreck when I have to go. I even have it written on my card that I am a nervous patient. Funny thing is, I don't mind injections but have terribly sensitive teeth, in the past have had injections for a clean. But my present dentist wont do that, he just hand cleans them gently instead, he's a lovely man. ann Glos

Maz, Some years ago I fainted having a check up, I'd got myself in such a state.! Patience and a calm approach from my present dentist has helped me but you will definitely be in my thoughts, when you go. I was told to make sure I ate before going, - to keep the blood sugar levels stable, I think. You'll be fine, I'm sure.

And if they don't give you a sticker - have a tantrum! Think of me and laugh - every morning I have to walk through the clinic. There's 20 dentists chairs and thousands (ok I exaggerate) of dental nurses. I take a deep breath and bolt for the door at the other end to the corridor where my office is. Stuff of nightmares. Hugs for tomorrow.xx A xx

Maz, I'll think of you in the morning if you think of me in the afternoon. I went to the dentist last Thursday to have a tooth reparied that had broken in two. Instead of repairing that one they pulled out another that had lost it's crown about 3 years ago, found a lump that they didn't know what it was. They gave me antibiotics to see if that cured the lump (it hasn't) and I've got to go again tomorrow for them to repair the original broken tooth and for them to decide what they are going to do about the lump (if it's still there - which it is). Its nice to know I'm not the only big baby about! Once I went and just couldn't open my mouth for the injection - that's the worst bit for me - so I had to go back another time with my hubby!! Made him come in the room with me and everything. He has to take the kids too as I just can't! Ann - I will ask for a sticker and tell them YOU said so!! Maz. XX

I'm going next week for a check up :-( I have a vertical crack in a molar that gets really sensitive every now & again. Every check up he says we could do something about it but it's a really nasty job - let's leave it til next time & if it doesn't get any better...... Doesn't ever get any better, but I don't tell him it's getting a little bit worse ! Do you think I'm too old to get my mum to go along with me ? Rick.

Good luck Maz - from one dental phobic to another. My dentist is my friend's husband - she FORCED me to see him when I was trying to ignore an infection. He has to treat me like I'm about 3. AND I get a sticker afterwards. If you don't get a sticker let me know and I'll send you one of mine ... I just started a new job as a researcher - guess where - ARGHHHH - in the Dental Hospital. Hugs A
