after watching a programme on wednesday about sex offenders which was based in my area of portsmouth, should we know who these people are.if it was up to me yes as i feel that these people should not and cannot be released into society.i get abit fed up with these pyscologists saying that these people are safe to release into society when the programme proved that there capable of reoffending.just think about sarah paynes killer.he was convicted of an attack before he killed an innocent child .what do you think? |

lisa i agree with you that we should know who these people are for the safety of are children, they dont walk round with sex offender tattooed on their forehead, they can be the nicest person you know, till they are caught out, and you would never of thought they would be capable of such a crime. on the news today there was something about pheadaphile chat lines didnt catch it all. tracy |

tracy ithink they shold be casterated to stop them having sexual urges.what these do-gooders don't realise is that child that has been abused by a sex offender will endure the pain of this act all through their childhood right through their adult lives.that's if ther lucky enough to survive their actions.some don't. |

I was a counsellor for 10 years and, although I was not qualified to counsel paedophiles, I received a certain amount of relevant training and it was recognised that the condition is incurable. In fact I was asked if I was interested in dealing with paedophiles and my quick answer was "yes - with a pair of secateurs" (which nearly got me fired for being politically incorrect). Actually, castration is useless, it does not remove the inclination. I am in favour of revealing the whereabouts of offenders but unfortunately there are a lot of psychopaths about who would not only kill or injure the offender but also blindly mistake the identity and vent their sadism on some unfortunate innocent. I am, therefore, more inclined to permanently institutionalise those who trangress. Len |

Lisa, I watched programmes on last year about the work Scotland Yard do to catch the pervs and one of them spoke about what he did. He said that in his experience castration would not work because the urges they get to abuse children does not come from the genitals, it comes from the brain. He said he would be castrated but he knows he would still want to abuse. They should be tattoed or marked in some way to warn people who they are, because they are very dangerous, manipulative b*****ds. M. |

i think the sex offenders should be tracked in some ways of there whereabouts.they should have certain curfews like other criminals should have .don't feel bad about what you have said.to be quite honest if any man even touched my daughter i would do life just to see that man wiped off the earth. |

Valley, it's been 36 years for me, I only told my mother 12 years ago, but my hubby and children know now. Him, the evil b*****d has had testicular cancer now hows that for ironic (or possibly the power of prayer). I am sorry if I offend, but I would like to see them all given the death penalty or kept somewhere like death row. M. |

When I was about 10, in Guys Hospital, I was sexually assaulted by a female nurse who I guess would have been in her twenties. She masturbated me. How do you regard that ? Len |

Michelle | Report | 15 May 2004 00:25 |
There's only one way to regard that Len, a disgusting act of abuse by a perverted adult. M. |

Yes we should know, and they should be locked up for life!!!! I confronted my abuse at 21 and was called a liar, then it came back to haunt me 2 yrs ago my sister brought it all up again, and i nearly ended up with a breakdown as she had told one of my adult children, i never wanted my kids to know, as i wanted to protect them. It was weird as at the same time i was in touch with 3 friends we grew up together, and 2 of them had also been through the same thing, not with the same person ,yet we never spoke of it as kids, we had spent the weekend together and the booze, made it easier to talk. I also worked with young adults that had been victims and abusers, some abused as they had been abused, and were young it was all they knew. The people who do it are sick and should be put away, they destroy lives, and all of there victims pay for the rest of their lives. ME i'm not a victim I'm a SURVIVOR sandra |

so grateful for you who had the courage to bring your past experiences up.sorry if i caused upset by doing this wasn't intended but it might help children that are in that position to tell someone and get these people caught.i didn't say but i was one of the lucky ones to escape from two sex offenders who were caught a week later by the police.they tried to get me into their car. |

LISA we all know that you didn't put this message up to upset anyone, i for one !!!!! if my experiences although bad help someone not feel alone it is worth it, at least we aren't ashamed to talk of the bad things and if it helps just one person and makes people aware then it has to be good. !!! like i said i am a survivor of abuse, people seem to accept talking about these things in todays society, it has gone on for thousands of years but we know longer tolerate the skeletons in the cupboard, we want to do our best to stop it!!!!!!!!!!!! survivor sandra |
