Does anyone know if you can use a GRO certificate copy to get a passport? My friend has lost her birth certificate and asked me how do go about getting a copy she can use. Thank-you |

Hi Helen, So long as she gets an official copy she will be able to use it to get a passport no problem. I did. Sheila |

for passport purposes a short cert will do - cheaper! |

Be careful with a short cert - when applying for passport. When we applied for passports - hubby's application was sent back -because he had a short birth cert - and not a full cert. We had to obtain a full cert - for him to get his passport. They would not accept his short birth certificate. Liz |

I f she knows where she was registered, and it is local, she can go and request it there and then. They can't refuse you except on a Saturday. You will need the full certificate. Ros |
