I was there at 1pm - so were about 3 thousand others. Sorry no one spotted this little old man skulking about peering at folk to see if they looked like GR members. perhaps we should have worn funny hats or carried a balloon ? Nevertheless, it was a good day. Len |

Oh Len, what a shame !! Gaynor, Trish, Susie and myself (and our spouses (and in Susie's case parents)) were all there at that point, sitting outside the "tower" block having a natter. I guess we should have been a little more deliberate in our planning. |

It was great to meet you all, in Susie and Terry's case - again. (Another coincidence on that birthdate Susie!! and sorry I walked past you twice - good job you know me :-))). Overspent at the fair but roughly the amount we overspent by was deducted from the hotel bill for some reason - we didn't argue!..... Len, sorry we missed you - it wasn't you who tried running over some people sat on the floor by the gypsy/romany section was it????? |

No, Trish - had I tried, I would have succeeded. I drive a tank. Susie I think I saw the group sitting on the wall near the tower block. Did you not see that little old man with a beard and carrying his jacket and eyeing all the girls? I was looking for a green-eyed, petite lady with dark hair so peered into the eyes of every lass under 6ft and, in case the hair colour was wrong checked out blondes and redheads too. Nearly got arrested twice. The ones on the wall....... I started at the ankles but never got past the knees. It was a good day although a trifle warm. I nearly bought a fiche reader but decided to go home and think about it (I haven't got any fiches). I did get a '71 census for Berks though Len |

Susie It says on the cover (I haven't delved into it yet) "This 3 CD pack covers the whole of Berkshire as enumerated". My mother's lot came from Abingdon - which is now in Oxon - but the man assured me it would be in the Berks 1871 which I believed as its there in the 1881, which I already own. Len |
