HI DAVID I am so proud of you for finishing an awful task, keep your chin up and be proud of yourself.if you take one day at a time it does get easier.I lost my husband nearly 2 years ago and clearing his clothes was the hardest thing to do.I keep a photo of my husband on my bedside cabinet and every birthday/anniversary/christmas/fathers day i always put a bunch of roses next to his photo. Dont forget that you have many friends on here that will support you, just give a shout and we all will be here to answer. sorry i have not been online as my computer had to go and have a new motherboard put in. take care sue

Dear David, I know it may seem a bit late to add a message to this thread, but it's taken me a bit of time to find the quote that I wanted to send you. I'm sure it's not 'too' late - I sent this to my aunt when my uncle died and she said she found comfort in it for a long time - Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way that you always used. Put no difference in your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Canon Scott Holland 1910 With kind thoughts and virtual hugs.

Hello David It's nice to see that you are feeling happier now, you have put that difficult task behind you. I know a bit how you were feeling, It was my Hubby's birthday on Friday (he died last year ) but we both got through it didn't we. I know that Ray (my Hubby) and your dear wife would not want us to be unhappy. So David, I wish you well, take care and continue to enjoy your classics!!! Lots of love Lynda xxxx

Hi David, I've been off-line for a week, and hoped to see you on the board when I checked in. I think you should be very proud of yourself! Birthdays are always hard. I approached the subject of Mam's birthday today with Dad, telling him I'm going to light a candle for her in Durham Cathedral's DLI chapel on her birthday in September. It was a special place for her as her Dad was in the DLI-- a hero, as well as a wonderful man. It set both me and Dad off crying--then I've just had a load more tears reading the thread about the balloon release in Manchester! It does get easier. At times, like tonight, I miss Mam so bad that it hurts physically, but most of the time now I think of her and smile. I think your threads have been a tribute to your beautiful wife, and to all our loved ones. Thank you for sharing with us all.x

David: I've been sitting here for ten minutes trying to think of how to word this. I either babble on forever, or things come out wrong. I'll just say that I'm very impressed with you and all you've done.

David, I used to be manager of four charity shops belonging to our local hospice (I was a volunteer) and It's because of people like you that the hospices keep on going. The big bussiness do make a big donation now and again but if people like you didn't donate their loved ones belongings to help the shops keep on making money I'm sure they'd struggle. Youve done her proud David and what better tribute to her than she has contributed to helping to provide care for others. She must be proud of you. Love to you. Maureen

Hi David, you've coped marvellously. I hope Bryan doesn't mind but the line he quoted rang a bell in my mind, and there's something similar in a hymn. Here is a bit more: I trace the rainbow through the rain, And feel the promise is not vain, That morn shall tearless be. Very best wishes, Mandy
