The 60's. Well what can you say. The best time ever! Sadly I never actually got to see the Beatles live, but they were/are, THE BEST! My fave beatle was George Harrison in the early days, but later John Lennon stole my heart. That was the saddest day ever wasn't it when he was murdered? I had an absolute ball in the 60's. We had a Cavern Club in Manchester where we used to dance the night away(all night that is). Me and my mates all told our parents we were staying at each others' houses, but instead went to the Cavern. But it was all good, clean, fun. We got stopped by a policeman a couple of times cos he thought we weren't old enough to be going to all night clubs(which we weren't), but after we promised him we'd go home, we'd double back and go to the club anyway. We got rumbled one morning though, on our way home at 6.30 am on a Sunday morning, when we bumped into the same policeman. I decided to tell my mum then where I'd been going. She went mad at first, but then let me go cos I told her I'd seen Mick Jagger the night before. The Rolling Stones had paid a surprise visit and I was over the moon. I loved Mick Jagger and lucky for me, so did my mum. I could go on forever about the great times we had in the 60's, but suffice it to say. IT WAS THE BEST TIME EVER!

Something I forgot to add to my 60's message is, if it was anything to do with the Beatles, I bought it.(to wear that is). I used to wear a black beatle jumper, black beatle jacket, black beatle boots, black tights, black leather(plastic) skirt, black gloves, had a beatle cut(my hair was jet black) and nearly white makeup. My dad used to say the only part of me that was white was my face. We used to do 'the shake' when we started going to our local dance hall and we were the subject of much interest as no one else had started doing it at that place before us. Our local Beatles lookalikes were 'The Stylos', with their beatle suits and cuban heel boots and long beatle style bobbed hair. It was a fab time. Never been another musical era like it. Love it.

I used to love Guy Mitchell. How sad is that? lol, and Marty Wilde. I fell in love with Bobby Vee when I was about 11 when he came to Manchester on the tour that was supposed to have been Buddy Holly and the Crickets, but of course Buddy Holly tragically had died in that plane crash. Mike Berry was on the show too. Remember him from the Blue Riband advert. I know this was just before the Beatles, but I remember it so clearly. I must have been a really sad case. Aah! The good old days really were the good old days for me.

Does anyone remember the song about the little bubble car. The only version available now doesn't have the bubble car in it. It's called a little jack rambler. Doesn't have the same ring to it does it. Those bubble cars were something weren't they. These are some of the words as far as I remember them. 'WHILE DRIVING IN MY CADILLAC, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE A LITTLE BUBBLE CAR WAS FOLLOWING ME, ABOUT ONE THIRD MY SIZE. THE GUY MUST HAVE WANTED TO CUT ME UP COS HE KEPT ON TOOTIN' HIS HORN I'LL SHOW HIM THAT A CADILLAC IS NOT A CAR TO SCORN 'BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP, HIS HORN WENT BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP For the life of me I can't remember most of the words, apart from the first verse. Can anyone fill me in on the rest? Thanks.

Geoff, yeah I know buddy Holy died in 1958 that's why I said it was before the Beatles. And it was definitely Mike Berry who was on the show with the Crickets and Bobby Vee. It must have been about 60/61 when I went to see the show. I remember Mike Berry because of the song 'Every Little Kiss'. I phoned Mike Sweeney on Piccadilly radio to see if anyone could get hold of a copy, but no luck. Do you by any chance remember 'The Image of A Girl' by Nelson Keene. I loved that song. I asked Mike Sweeney if he could find that one for me but again no luck.

Some Italian singers who were so dreamy in the 1960s - Bobby Solo "Credi a me" and Jimmy Fontana "Il mondo" (lovely holidays I had! what memories!). Joy
