I have always loved animals, all breeds, all kinds. But because of circumstances only been able to have cats and help stray dogs. I briefly supported the animal liberation front until they went off the wall, and I hate all cruelty. Whats YOUR experience. |

hi, i am an animal lover!! i have 2 cats--tigger-9yrs old & meg 3 yrs old. meg can be a little madam with tigger, they don't fight, but she torments him by running at him and jumping on his back, she just wants to play, but tigger wont have any of it!! he's getting to old and just wants a quiet life. i had a dog "lassie" but she died from a heart attack 3 yrs ago, it broke my heart when she went, she was 15yrs,and i'd had her from 9wks old, she was so faithfull, i still miss her. i would like to get another dog now but i don't want to upset the cats, when we got meg as a kitten it took tigger a long time to come round and accept her. or maybe another kitten!! a playmate for meg!!! chris. |

Hi Dorothy, You might be pleased to know that London Zoo's elephants were moved from their appalling conditions to Whipsnade Wild Animal Park a couple of years ago, after one of them killed a keeper. One of London's elephants is now pregnant by Whipsnade's bull, Emmet, who has also fathered a beautiful baby girl by his other lady friend, Kaylee. They have a huge amount of space in their paddocks, with shaded areas, a pool deep enough to submerge themselves in, and they walk for miles every day, around the park. Zoos are not my fave places, but Whipsnade has a very good breeding programme. they have produced 5 Siberian tiger cubs in recent years, an endangered species. These tigers will be moved on to other zoos to become part of the international breeding program. I am not a (domestic) cat lover, but could never hurt one. Love dogs though, especially choccy labs! |

I work for the local branch of Cats Protection. We are a national charity and take in stray and unwanted cats and kittens. Vaccinate, worm etc. neuter and microchip before rehoming. I also have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 1 foster cat and 1 foster kitten and a hamster. So I guess I'm an animal lover! Eileen |

Its lovely to hear that folk feel as strongly as me about animals, the human being is part of the animal kingdom but alas, some times the worst part for the rest of the animals, we have the intelligence to feel we are better but alas we prove to be the worst. I cannot watch wild life programs for fear that I will see crualty. Thankyou for sharing your feelings on this. eyes |

Dorothy Felt every word you wrote, shan't get much sleep tonight. Sally, If you want a dog that will eat anything, and I mean anything!!!! (don't ask) One that makes sure you have soggy slippers to put on in the morning. One that likes to give you at least one brown hair in every meal, then yes it's a Choccy Lab you need, I know I've got one!! And what's this thing they have about SOCKS! |

Hi Dorothy, I have had and still have great characters (cats) living in the same house as me. They rule the roost and I feel very protective of them. They are not pets, they choose to live with me and make my life difficult, interesting and challenging, I love all creatures and feel we all have a right to live on this planet and we have no right to be so superior over them. hope I am not being too deep here. :) |

Donna, i know what you mean, I would love to be vegan, but I am carnivorous just as most animals are, including dogs, cats, birds of prey etc. we are the more advanced species, therefore we should not abuse. |

Also would love to rescue a greyhound or 2. Anyone interested in greyhounds/dogs must visit wonderful site i found when researching history of my g grandfather's greyhound. It has beautiful pics and life stories of her dogs and message board Her love for the dogs shines thru whole site. will add link asap Also have long standing passion for frogs toads newts in fact all creature who frequent ponds. Have natural pond in tiny garden where i do not use chemicals. Hoping to create artificial rainforest when i can afford it to help preserve endangered frogs. I too am a great animal lover we have had four dogs over the years Sam a golden Labrador, Sheba German sheperd, Sam another Golden Labrador, and our Wallace Belgium Sheperd we have now sorry he came with the name. The labradors we had from puppies but the two sheperd were rescused they had a very bad start to there lives. Labradors such lovable dogs our first one we had was a very naughty dog as a puppie one thing he did was we left him in the car while we went to see a friend of ours she didnt like dogs when we returned(we were only ten minutes ) our car looked like a battlefield bless him he had chewed all the dashboard and one of the door panels, the air was blue we should have known better. As with all animals that die losing them is the worst part of being an animal lover you always say never again but what do we all do yes go out and get another one. i cannot stand to watch any programs of animals being ill treated is upsets me to much Take care Margaret |

Baz, Keep your voice down, spiders have feelings too. They are warm, cuddly, furry and fun to be with. Not speaking first hand here that knows :) |
