I can't stand it any more, I have been trying to live with myself all week, knowing that I would have to confess, the pain of keeping this to myself is just too much, I know that no one will ever speak to me again, but I just can't go on. Here goes then I LOVE IRONING |

Well I find doing the odd bit of ironing very relaxing, mind you I wouldn't want to do it too often! My speciality is pressing trousers and jeans. I get lovely sharp creases front and back. Something I learnt in the army...creases had to be really sharp; ironing over brown paper was best for that though I can't think why. Brian :-} |

I've been suffering from this one big pile for ages - I'm refering to the ironing girls and boys. My husband decided to treat me to a new state of the art iron, said it would make life easier - Oh the romance in married life. Anyway tried it out the other night - I'll tell you the steam just blasts out, nicknamed it geezer, it's like having a turkish bath at the same time - Mmmmm there's a thought! Lin |

I have an absolute mound of ironing. I have a tumble dryer and put in what can be tumbled but still have lots of ironing. I would be up to my ears in it if I didn't have the dryer. Viv |

I thought so too David... Although my hubby's a Painter & Decorator, and when we moved to our first home together (only 2 years ago) he took 3 weeks and re-decorated it completly, a beautiful job. When hoovering I accidently knocked the skirting board!!!! Now he doesn't let me hoover - I don't argue!!!!! Rebecca |

The only things that get ironed in my house are my husbands work shirts- and he does them himself. It is such a pointless task, and life is far too short..... |

David - I'm convinced my washing multiplies while it's in the machine!!! :O I was a few tops and 'smalls' from the week, and end up with a mountain of laundry when it's all dry........ Or is it the laundry fairies bringing me other peoples?? :( |

I have a huge pile - I'll do it eventually. I worked with a lady who got fed up of her hubby getting her to do this that and the other, she started rebelling. She used to only iron the front of his shirt as the rest couldn't be seen, he started to iron his own. She iron double creases in trousers - he ironed his own. Then when he asked her to take a pair of trousers up - one leg was 3in shorter than the other!! Would you believe they are one of the most well suited happiest couples I know!! Rebecca |

I hate ironing more than anything else. So I gave it up about 12 years ago following the lead of a close friend and neighbour of the time who said life is too short to stuff mushrooms (not sure where she stole the quote from). I am careful to buy clothes that are easy-care, wash them, spin them lightly, shake them as I take them out and smooth them by hand as I hang them up. Works even for hubby's shirts and the kids' school uniforms. If there are a few creases in hubby's shirts I tell him not to take his jacket off till mid morning, by which time any creases will be put down to the day's wear. Angela |
