Hi All, Just been searching along the beach, and came across a smashed up lifeboat, but the locker was totally destroyed, and all the contents gone. Pity really, they would have come in handy.

Dorothy, Except for Baz, I have not seen anyone. Good idea to bury some of the items, we might need things to barter with the Islanders. Don't bring the glucose as the sap from the green coconuts is nature's glucose besides being a great mixer for rum. Fat Lady

Yuk! I don't like tuna, but as we've got Lindy's fresh fish, we won't need to open that one yet. This one's got cheese pieces in foil. I think this must be couple of litres of fresh water . . . well, it doesn't smell like Gin or Vodka!!

Lindy Report 30 Aug 2004 17:16

Lindy Report 30 Aug 2004 16:56

Nobody about? I have skinned and salted the Parrot fish that Boris caught and they are drying on a rack in the sun for emergency rations. The skin was as hard as leather and was very difficult to peel off. I wonder if it has some use? I see Baz has left me a couple of yams, a dead bunny and a guinea fowl. I hope its not the same one that has been laying the eggs. Game birds are not good for roasting, Better throw it in a pot and let it cook away with the yams and make a stew. How I wish we had a few onions, carrot, potatoes and garlic to add to the stew. FAT LADY

(Huffing and puffing along the beach) ...... Hallooooooo! CAN YOU HELP ME!!!!!!!!! I don't thinkI can drag this any further . . . . I found this box in amongst some rocks. It's got SS Utopia stamped on it, I reckon it must be off one of the lifeboats . . . . (phewwwwww! it's very heavy!!! I can't get it open, but I think it may contain something useful!! CAN YOU HEAR ME!!!!! ANY BODY THERE? (Oh it's no good, I'm going to have to just sit here and wait! Wish I could get this open) Oh, that's better! (Collapses on the beach) It's a lovely day, but for once I wish it wasn't quite so warm, all right if you're sunbathing, but that I have not been doing. Ooooh, my poor feet, and back!!! (thinks: It might contain some flares, they have those on lifeboats don't they? Seen them in those war movies, they let them off late at night ..... no good in this bright sunshine) I bet Baz could do that! (thinks again! they have emergency rations of chocolate too!! . . . hate to think what state that's in with this heat) Hallooooooo! OVER HERE!!!!!!!!

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 30 Aug 2004 15:36

Has anybody found anything washed up on the beach, from the wreck, or the aircraft. That`s another thing, the aircraft that went down, must be being searched for, so again, extra vigileance, is called for. It`s a vague hope, but if any of the lifeboats get washed up, smashed or otherwise, the lockers may be intact, these will contain emergency rations, tools, and medical supplies, and possibly diesel for the small motor, and maybe even the motor itself, more vigilence.

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 30 Aug 2004 15:29

Fat Lady, Here you are, we caught a rabbit, and what looks like a turkey type bird. The veg, we`ve got is I think, yams, dug`em up,so I`m sure that`s what they are. So, tonight, party night. We`ll all sleep with full bellies tonight.

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 30 Aug 2004 15:24

Back at the clearing now, and pleasantly surprised to find all the hammocks erected, a fire on the go, latrines dug, and the clearing cleared of all debris. This will stop creepy crawlies coming in. While on our reccy, I did notice some aircraft vapour trails, way up, so this island must be on some route or another, so it`s quite possible,we may also be on some shipping route. This means that a constant vigil must be kept up at all times, from the rescue bonfire site. A rota would be a good idea eh.

Essex Baz

Essex Baz Report 30 Aug 2004 15:17

Phew, it`s hot, I and a few others have done a reccy of the island,or at least some of it,and found,to our delight, that there are all sorts of animal life, ( food ), along with a variety of vegetables, fit for consumption. So, we won`t starve, and the stream will supply our drinking water. The rescue bonfire has been built, and ready to go at a moments notice.Already, I feel more at peace, now that the basics have been attained.

Sorry guys no brunch, I have spent the morning moving our gear to the new campsite that Baz has cleared for us. It seems I got here just in time to build up our fire that is all most dead. I have found a few more guinea fowl eggs, will add them to the rest and hopefull by the end of the day we should find more. I have dumped everything in the middle of the clearing and you can all sort out your own stuff and hang your hammocks in the trees. Boris and I are going fishing, hopefully we might pick up a few useful items from the wreck... Fat Lady
