Reverting to the original idea: That we as members of GR were on a Cruise together that had to 'Abandon Ship' and we get washed ashore on a Desert Island. We only know each other from what we have seen of each other on board, what hidden depths or secrets do YOU have? You will have only had a few minutes to grab things before getting into the Lifeboat. If you were Crew you could possibly bring 'survival' goods, if you were a passenger, well, who's to say what you would bring!!!! |

My first priority would have to be finding a source of drinking and washing water and washing out my salt-caked clothes, although I have no problem with nudity if necessary. And looking for some food sources. |

Dorothy, After being washed up on the opposite side of the island to everyone else, and thinking I was on my own, I decided fresh water was the most immediate problem I had. I searched my side of the island, and found a stream of fresh water. I was made up. I still had a few tools from the life raft, and made a shelter from the leaves of a few palm trees, and vines. I also made a net, for fishing, from the same vines etc.and have been living quite comfortable since. Don`t know who else survived. |

1. Pool all possessions and take stock - appoint a quartermaster. 2. Check for fresh water 3. Cut down palm leaves and erect shelter 4. gather wood for fire and beacon 5. Search for edible berries/fruit 6. Catch fish |

Been working hard to make my life as comfortable as possible, as I don`t know if, or when I`ll be rescued. I remember that we were well off course before the Utopia went down, so rescue will be a long time coming. |

Next thing is food. I have found a small `pack` of wild boar, so will have to make a few traps, or bow and arrow. So with the fish, and hopefully some pork, Ill be able to survive. |

Next thing is, I suppose, is the possability of further hurricanes, so that means making the `camp`wind proof, and well away from the beach, as waves could come a fair way inland, and preferably off the ground. |

I`ve been working now for at least 15 hours, and beginning to feel the pace, so I think it`s time I put my `hammock` to the test, and hope that the night will be calm, and uneventful. |

Ahh, that is so comfortable, and the evening is so lovely. Tomorrow I must explore the rest of the island to see if anyone else survived the sinking. If not, I must get myself organised, and start the construction of a more secure `home`and of course, build some sort of rescue signal, for passing ships. |

Lying in the hammock, and staring up at the stars, so many millions of miles away, make me feel so small and humble, and yet, so lucky, so thankful, so happy to be alive, I say a small prayer to a `being`so much greater than myself. And with that prayer still in my thoughts, drift off into oblivion, and the dreams of a soul in torment. |

Mornin` already, no idea what the time is, but then, what has time really got to do with anything. It`s a beautiful morning, had a really good sleep, and feeling happy to be alive. Must go to the toilet. Make a toilet to start with. more work, and that`s before I`m fully awake. With that done, it`s time for food, check the make do net, bingo, a few fish caught, and a turtle. How do you kill a turtle, and how do you cook it. A fire, I must try to get a fire going. Two sticks, rub together, and hey presto, fire.I`ve a feeling it`s going to be a really nice day, hot and sunny. A hat, I need a hat, must keep the sun off, don`t want to get sun burnt. |

Beginning to feel like Robinson Crusoe already, and beginning to understand the problems, and only been here for a short while, but that`s survival I guess. |

If not, maybe a young Polinesian lady is marooned as well, a good cook, who knows how to cook a turtle, and fish of course, and who would become a companion, a lover, a friend. |

Ahhh well, stop these day dreams, and get on with some work, essential work, work to guarantee my survival, on this beautiful, deserted, desert island in the sun. |

It`s been a long time now, working, and I think The `camp` is fit for any eventulality, so now , I think it`s time to go and explore, and look for any other human habitation. I think if I follow the sun, I`ll be able to find my way back to the camp.Must find something to wear though, keep the mosquito`s off. These cut down jeans are fine for beach work, but not very good for jungle walking. |

I'm going to have to be very careful - I am allergic to shellfish. Hope I've grabbed the clarityn, rizatriptan for my migranes and my HRT patches. Tweezers, ladyshave and comb and scissors, mirror, shampoo and soap. That will keep me going for a while. |
