Hi all, back again for a few minutes, the Shepards pie was really nice, and so was the cabbage that I cooked to go with it,even the gravy was tasty,so I got a 9out of 10 for tea tonight, would have gotten a full ten but I left the grated chese of the top,I was trying to cut down the fat,Can't win.Been trying to connect some of my rellies with another member and am of again to look as I have had an idea about some who might give me a lead. Take care all.Brenda |

Morning allfrom the north of England ,up where the scotties used to play with their claymores lol. Poor old Liz has sucummed to this five day flu bug again ,so i have her tucked up in bed with her third cuppa and a book, but by 'eck,it she keeps drinking tea at this rate she will wear me,and the toilet carpet out by this evening hee hee. Talking about research,i was desolate last month to fing that the central library had been closed until 2008 for a complete reburbishment and i could no longer get to see the gro index,or the cencus records . We were in town yesterday however and saw one of the moble librarries parked at the top of Grainger street so i decided to ask how long it would be before the list's were going to be offline so to speak, they havn't was the reply, they have moved them to the civic centre ,but we forgot to inform the public grrrrrr ,what do we pay council tax for i sk myself. Anyway ,i can now go down there when Liz is better and find out all i need to know about My Edwin Barnes ,and ask how i can order a certificate on line, the idea being ,although i think i know the name of his mother ,i need to know for sure for the family tree, but i did have some luck to do with him online ,i thought he was an only child but find he had five siblings ,three brothers ,and two sisters,so that will keep me going a few weeks, but Ray,[my uncle ] says that two of these brothers emmigrated ,one to New york where he became head of the cleansing department [what a load of rubbish] and one went to Oz ,brisbane where he became Mayor, but we will see after i check it all out.but it's possible ,these Barnes seem to get everywhere lol. It can't decide what it wants to do today, overcast, pretty cold and damp ,so it's a wait and see day. The building over the road is going well ,and they will be finished well before Christmas ,so we won't be innundated by mud off the site again and get it trodden all through the house by visitors. Talking of the day, only 11 months to go peeps lol[ fred ducks to avoid all the old boots and shoes thrown by irate members hee hee] suffice to say ,our Liz has already got four pressies in ,hee hee,and is chomping at the bit in bed here cause she can't look for any more in the sales hee hee. I think she will be up before long so i have put a few cushions on the sofa and turned the heating in the front room up to make it a bit more comfortable for her. Going to go now ,make myself a drink and then do some dusting, have a good day all.Fred. |

Hi there :o) Fred how is Liz, hope she's feeling better now. The other day l noticed you said if l got the chance try and visit the Grand Canyon - well just before l read that l had an email from Vics neice to make arrangements for just such a visit - yipppppeeee. We're going on the train and its a 3day trip, how exciting - you're all going to get so fed up with all my tales when we get back:o)))))) We're off't any minute to the vets for Madoc's check up - his front leg seems better but he's still scratching his ear - he's also still on anti-whatsits, so we're not really seeing if the leg is poorly or not. Been walking every morning this week, took the camera this morning to take photo's of the swans - there's a family of 5 (last yrs) and 3 or 4 other adults - but of course just to be difficult the sun was hiding. l have a really nice one of Madoc on my mobile camera, but l'm having probs transferring it to my email - l will work it out!!! then l'll be able to send them to GC photo for you. Ok l must go as its nearly time for the vets. Is'nt ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat to see so many old names on Colins Thread - have you seen Kathleen Fennel on there???? l will send her a message later. Bye - will let you all know later how Madoc is. Brenda - you must think of you, praps your son needs slapped wrists. Take care everyone:o) jude sarf wales x |

Afternoon all, well ,it's still ruddy cold up here but at least not as bad as the weekend thank goodness. Liz turns out to have just a very heavy cold ,and has managed to get downstairs and is now ensconced in front of the table with one of her jigsaws with a mountain of paper hankies for the use of. I havn't seen as much paper since we as kids were getting the pieces together at school for a paper chase lol. Jude ,you are certainly going to see some sights from the train before you even get to the canyon, you lucky begger lol,are you going to put some photos up for us all. Have a good time anyway and enjoy your holiday.,but it's a pity you can't take Madoc ,he would have fun chasing the road runner, and maybe his arch enemy willy coyote, but i don't fancy his chances of catching either. I can feel the heat of the sun here through the glass of the patio door and i reckon spring isn't too far away now ,it seems to be getting stronger now than it was just after Christmas ,which by the way ,is only 11 months away lol,Liz has already started on the pressies in the sales hee hee so get going you lot never mind the easter eggsor the flowers for you know when next month ,cor ,it's all hands in pockets these days lol. Have to go now and run the missus down for her pescription. ,so i will see you later.Fred. |

Very quick:o) Madoc's visit to the vets - gawd Vic had to wait outside until another dog had come out, then we dashed into the little surgery room cause a rather large German Shepherd called Roxy was waiting to come in - l actually had to ask the man and his wife if they'd mind waiting - so embarrassing - Madoc would have gone absolutely balistic - we need the trainer with us next time we visit me thinks!! lol Anyway he has these hairs in both ears, which is quite unusual that far down in the ear and they could be the reason he's had ear probs in the past, nothing drastic but inflamed and obviously sore. The leg seems ok at present so we'll stop the anti-whatsits stuff and ring the vet mid week to tell her if he's limping again, if he is she'll make an appointment for xrays. l don't think l fully realise whats happening yet re this holiday - l know the packing is giving me a bloomin headache, but the full scale of the distance, places and stop offs and seeing both sets of families, especially my half siblings is going to overwelm me l think. My brother had a brain heamorage 12 yrs ago, god he was only 35yrs old and now has very bad eye sight, l so hope he can see me, it will probably be the last time for a very long time if ever l visit him again - he can't travel on planes because of the brain op 12yrs ago. l don't know if the photo's l'm taking will be any good, actually l don't think they will so l'm going to print them larger!! Sylvia how are you?? Dorothy hope the weather is subsiding for you, don't over do it in the gym. Its been fairly cold here today and this morning it was very dull with abit of drizzle. Brenda - why not charge him more rent, or some rent if you dont or lock the puter in your room - kids eh???? Take care all:o) jude sarf wales:o) xx PS - we have a cousin visiting on Sunday from Sussex, not seen him for 4 and half yrs, bless him:o) |

EveningFolks, still checking and double checking these rellies but can not seem to get a confirmation that there is a link, would like to think there is one,but would also like more proof. Weather milder today ,have booked a holiday for April, but think I have told you all that, Made a prawn and haddock stir fry for tea,as I am using up things from the freezer, and did not want meat or chicken. Wasn't bad but don't think we will have it again.!!! Jude ,hope Madoc,s leg stays ok for you.WHat have you to do for his ears, can they get rid ofthe hairs? I can understand why you are in a tiz about the packing for the holiday, but I am sure it will all turn out ok. My dad found out late in life that he had an half brother who lived in Leicestershire, but by the time he had found outabout him, the brother had had a stroke and did not know them when they went Dad said ,he would have liked to get to know him had he known earlier.now he never will as he died(the brother shortly after). So go and see your siblings and enjoy. See you all tomorrow ,brenda |

Hi all, Well it is Sunday again, should be a day of rest, but as usual there are lots of things to do. This coming week will be so busy for me with hospitals, doctors, blood pricking and even a breast scan. We have the usual scan for women 50-75 and I thought I had had my last one, but it seems I am included in this year's list. Like a good citizen I am obeying, although would have preferred it another week. Yesterday went to visit my household help as she was operated on last Tuesday. When she was 18 she fell under a bus and had horrific injuries to her legs. She is still undergoing every few years operations to graft skin over old wounds. She was very cheerful and is home being looked after by her husband. It was nice to meet her husband. I had already met her daughter. I had helped her make a card for her granddad's birthday. My help has arranged for her neighbour to come and help me in the house and is coming on wednesday this week. Yesterday I watched an eskimo film on television. It began so late so finished late! It finished 2.45 am. I was lucky that I was able to sleep ok after that. Usually I am overtired and cannot sleep. Anyway I had had extra long sleep after dinner and found it difficult to wake up. What hours we keep now we are pensioned! I cannot remember whether I told you that my doctor phoned me to tell me that I have two viruses (cystitis) and all the antibiotics I have been taking have been useless. I now have a much stronger one. I can only take this until Wednesday as then I have to start emptying my bowels ready for my investigation on Friday. Am going to have an ordinary meal today but one which we both love. It is sauerkraut, mashed into potatoes with smoked sausage and chopped bacon. Not a usual Sunday dinner, but who cares! Jude, I miss Di and Kathleen on this site too. Do you think they'll ever come back. Do you think maybe they will secretly be looking in on us? |

Hello, it's me again. Sorry I haven't posted for a while but have had a few problems to deal with and haven't been in the right frame of mind - but you have guessed it Sylvia, I have been popping in now and again to see how you are all getting on. I hope you don't have to keep on going for all these tests, you have had a rough time lately. You still remain cheerful and busy in spite of it all. Jude & Brenda, thank you for the messages I will be in touch in a day or two. Isn't it nice to see so many of the original people posting on Colins thread, makes it seem quite like old times. My g.daughter had her tonsils out last Wednesday - no jelly and ice cream these days and only an overnight stay. She is doing ok and pleased to be rid of her tonsils which have caused her so much trouble these past couple of years. Had to buy her a fake tan as she didn't want to 'look ill'. Two weeks off school but she will be doing her mock GCSE's at home after a few more days to recuperate. The problems with the computer have been sorted at last so hopefully I will be visiting a bit more regularly. God bless Love Kathleen |

Well had my blood pricked today and hoorah the Hg has risen to 7,9. It went as low as 5,9, then I had iron tablets which brought it up to 6,9 and now without tablets for two weeks it is 7,9, so it looks as if we are getting there. Maybe I'll never know why it suddenly dropped so low, but as low as they keep pricking me now and again I don't mind. Mind you I'm still very much out of breath and tired, but step by step is my motto. Kathleen I will look at that thread when I get off here. Where is Fred? Perhaps he is baking for Easter. A Simnel cake, hot cross buns, what else comes to mind? Tomorrow have to go out for my breast scan, but had so many of these that I don't mind at all. The weather is so Spring-like with birds chirping away and crocuses showing through the ground along the roads. Perhaps winter really has gone! Mind you February and March can also be cold, so we had better watch out. Have a nice evening, and Kathleen lovely to see you again. I do wish Di would come back too; I have sent her an e-mail, who knows? Sylvia xxx |

Hi there .... Kathleen so good to see your name again. Sorry you have had probs, hope they sort themselves out soon. Your granddaughter must have needed that op, cause they don't remove tonsils now unless they have too. Do you still hear from Peter in Australia?? if so send him my bestes:o) Sylvia bet you'll be pleased when all these tests have finished. So pleased the results are good - keep it up:o) l wonder if Di looks in aswell, bet she does:o)))) Colins thread certainly brought back loads of old peeps:o) Its been abit dull and chilly here today. Did anyone manage to do the RSPB bird watch thing - l tried but there were'nt any birds. Then Sunday afternoon we had visitors. Today we've had the pheasant again, he's becoming a regular now:o) l had a headache most of the day, my fault cause l had 2 glasses of wine at dinner time, then 2 more in the evening - so l suppose it was a hang over (actually l remember now saying something on a thread of Lynda Pace's last night to the effect that l was tiddly - oh dearrrr!!!) Madoc has been abit confused this weekend - what with visitors coming and going. We probably won't expect too much of him now until after the holiday. He's still not limping on the front leg,if he starts to again we just need to phone the vet. Fat cat has had a new lease of life - l was folding a bedspread this morning and he has inside it having a whale of a time. The he found my trainers and played with the laces, he was flicking them in the air and he flicked so hard the trainer nearly knocked him out. Did'nt bovver him though, he was off down the stairs with the wind in his tail. Must be the new organic biscuits(all-in-one) he's having. l'll try and take a photo of him when he's relaxing on HIS pillow on the back of the sofa sometime, talk about lording it:o)))) Okey dokey l'm going to do abit more sorting for packing - because we have so many stop offs (Munich,New York,Denver,Los Angles,Chicargo and home), its been suggested we put some of my clothes in Vics suit case and visa versa, incase we should lose a case - hopefully this won't happen, but good thinking!!! See yeh:o) Take care everyone:o) jude sarf wales xx |
