Carol Stevenson - I also used to go to those 1960's shows where there were lots of acts on the bill, great times. I don't think Alvin Stardust was ever known as Duffy Powers! Alvin Stardust was originally Shane Fenton (& the Fentones), and Duffy Power was . . . . well, just Duffy Power! Am I right? |

It was 1963 I think, the band was called the High Numbers, the venue the cellar beneath the Railway Hotel Wealdstone. The High Numbers went on to be the Who. Later in the Sixties I think probably 1968 at the same venue we saw Fleetwood Mac. At that time, Peter Green on the guitar they were a blues band. Played to a half empty hall but they were brilliant! After that the Fleetwood Mac went downhill! |

Christina & Andy - what great memories!! In Middlesbrough in the 1960's there used to be a club called Outlook and one Friday night, in the early 60's, both the Rolling Stones and the Hollies played on the same bill. I heard about it but I wasn't there. |

I saw Shane Fenton and the Fentones, around 1960 at the Grantham Granada. It was long before he became Alvin Stardust. (We thought it was great because we had tea with them in the cafe. We had gone on the bus straight from school and they were having their pre-performance meal. I think we might still have been in our uniforms, before changing in the loo!) |

My mum took me to see Gilbert O'Sullivan at the Palladium for my 13th birthday, 1973. thats a blast from the past. Also saw, The Osmonds, David Essex, Barry Manilow, George Benson, Supertramp(boyfriend at the time cousin was the manager) Simply Red, took husband to see the Shadows at the the Hammersmith Apollo last year, also went to see Merrill Osmond last year. Don't seem to get so much opportunity these days living in the back of beyond. |
