Hi Everybody! Anywhere along Percy St. seems a good idea as it is quite accessable for all kinds of transport. Will it be a lunch time meet? If so, fine. If not, fine. Nev

Aaah Jenny...wish I could come! Fred, i know the Rainbow rooms--I will be able to picture you all in there now! I bought my dinner service in the Co-op upstairs! Don't forget to keep some free time when I come up in July--I want to meet some of my Geordie GR pals! Sal.X

Just put up a new thread for all those that are hoping to come. Fred, also added to it that the place you mention sounds ideal for the main Meet. Shall we try for it? Jenny. xx

That being the case peeps ,can i suggest The Rainbow Rooms ,in newgate street.a restraunt run by the coop, large .roomy, well cooked food with a good choice of fare, with a nice bar.the meals price wise are pretty reasonable, and the joint can be booked,to make sure we can all be catered for,but to do this Jenny would need to know how many to book for.I can check this out for her if it's a go,cause the lady is going to have enough to do as it is. There is a bus from the station that stops outside the doors, and there are plenty of bars next door too,but it may be possible to book the room for the afternoon as well.Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s.

Sounds good to me, Somewhere not too noisy where we can relax and enjoy each others company. A Swally or two and a decent meal. Heaven

The metro is a grand idea Jenny, with a day ticket you could even take in the ferry across to south shields, for a tour to the front. But whatever it's going to be nearly as quick ,and a lot cheaper than a coach ,not forgetting that the ticket is valid on the buses as well. .Anyway the first thing is to sort out a meeting time at the station ,bearing in mind the earlier the better. If i remember rightly the fish and chip cafe to a whole meal, including bread ,and a cuppafor a little over £3-50,and the size of the portions is more than i can manage, and the fish is the best in the area..we can sort out where to eat a little later as there are nice bistro's in Whitley bay as well.cyl ,liz is away to bed.Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s.

Jenny Think it's a good idea for coach if going to Whitley Bay. Agree with Fred tiddly bay, cish and fips cafe if poss.stroll round where ever then pub for chinwag. Or anybody have different suggestions SUE

Andy Report 15 Feb 2005 20:14

Whitley Bay is fine with me. I know this may sound like sitting on the fence but I really don't mind too much where the main venue is held - besides I don't really know which are the best places, and I'm fairly easy to please :-). Maybe if you did Whitley Bay then you could take in St Marys Lighthouse. My gt-grandparents & gt-gt grandmother are buried in the cemetery looking out onto the lighthouse.

Fred. I was only half serious when I suggested a coach and driver. Think it may prove rather expensive. Of course some will come by train and go back later. Some will possible stay the night. Some that live nearer by car. Asking your opinion now. Do you think those that do not have transport would be willing to ride the Metro? I think they do an all day long ticket, only about £3. We could get Metro to North Shields. Do a shuttle service with those who have cars to the Fish Quay. Hubby would do a few runs. Then on to Tynemouth on the Metro. A couple of hours round there. Then Metro to Whitley Bay. Just an idea. Jenny xx

Tiddly bay sounds fine to me jenny ,as does the fish and chips from north shields ,and they do have a sit in that holds fourty,,but as you say ,it depends on what the others want to do.Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s.

Jenny, They're probably all having their dinners or watching the TV or down the pub. Perhaps they'll come on later. Don't worry about it. CB >|< X

Jenny, What time are you thinking of starting the 'Meet' on Saturday? We started in London about 1 p m and the time whizzed by. David and I had to leave at 4, and it seemed like we'd only been there an hour or so, but then we did have Gaynor with us, which made it very different. I'll go along with whatever everyone else wants to do, as long as I've got somewhere clean and tidy to stay (with a decent bathroom) and I can 'do' as much of Sunderland etc as possible on the Sunday. I'm coming up with Kim on Friday, so would like to fit something in on Saturday, if possible, and we're heading back South on Monday. CB >|<
