Just been to visit a little old lady I know and she has that acid tongue a few elderly ladies develop. I know I've put a bit of weight on lately but she cocked her head on one side, looked at me and said 'Get on a diet and get some weight lost you big fat lump.' DIET STARTS TODAY. Arrrrrrgh.

I held myself back with admirable restraint! She's 85 and usually she is an absolute sweetie but she has got a real thing about my weight.

Got to admit the self pity tears have sprung up but it has made me determined to do something about it. I don't want to keep hearing remarks like that but I can't just drop her either - she doesn't have anyone else to visit.

You must be psychic Pink !! I was just thinking that for every pound I lose I'll put a pound in money into the Gaynor fund. That's a good enough incentive when the willpower wears off. I'm going to get on the scales when I get the courage up.

To be honest, I had three penguins - blush.

Oh, doesn't the truth hurt sometimes. It's usually children who make hurtful remarks like that. Anyway don't let it bother you, it wouldn't me. I've just seen a niece of mine who has lost 60 kilo, yes 60 kilo. She now looks like a little old woman. No, I'd sooner see her with some extra kilos. Sylvia xxx

Unknown Report 21 Mar 2005 12:16

Oh dear Wendy !! luckily I can laugh it off (hence the 'chunks' nickname) but I understand how hurtful it can be. That said, Sharon and I both decided yesterday to try and lose a bit more weight (lost a stone last year), so we're with you in spirit...
