Dee, Thanks, taken from the web: This shattering glimpse of the fate of millions of Russians under Stalin shook Russia and shocked the world when it first appeared. ... a stark description of life in a Siberian labour camp. Well our brains have certainly been tested in the first 2 months of this book club! |

Hi Mike and all, Good idea about the 2 separate threads. Will post my bit about L van der P on there. I had a good rummage through at work this week as we have several reading groups and they all have different books! Have got a couple of suggestions, so will add them when the new thread appears. Yes, have got the Ivan wotsit book here and it is about one day for one bloke in a labour camp. Its only short though, so hopefully won't be too much of a challenge. Can I just mention that I am reading the Bookseller of Kabul and it is fab! Maz. XX |

Hi Mike and Everyone, Sorry I don't like the look of either of the June books. They look a little heavy. We are in the middle of buying/selling and getting ready to move so not on here every day. I will look out for the new threads and am ready to suggest a book. I like the idea of aligning it so that we are starting on the first of each month. Now I am off the paint the hall walls......it is all go!!!! Lesxx |

If it's ok with everyone I'm going to delete this thread? It's served its purpose and we now have a review thread and a new choice for July book? So by tomorrow it will be gone. xx |

Hi Maz, I loved that book 'PS I love you' also....it was a great read. If you like that type of story the two books I suggested on Mikes other site would interest you as well. Also try Postcards from Wits End by Sarah Harvey. Another great read. Lesxx |

Thanks Les! Have moved onto The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (what a name!) which is also turning out to be very good! Maz. XX |
