Hi, I'm not too scared to post on the boards. But if I think a message is put there just to cause trouble then I ignore it. It's fine to disagree with people, I do it all the time! I always try to be polite in my responses, even when disagreeing and certainly do not make personal attacks. I started off not knowing anyone but you get to 'know' people over the weeks and months. I've only met 3 people from the boards and I know another one in the 'real' world but I have made a few friends on here who I also email and would like to meet one day. If you visit the boards every day you do become familiar with the 'regulars' and to new people it must seem that we all know each other. But the only way to become a part of the community is to join it. Some people have had unfortunate experiences that have made them wary but most people on the boards are friendly and open. The problem with the written word is that you can't see facial expressions and some posts sound more aggressive than the writer intended. Also, on the threads, people will 'talk over' you sometimes. Don't take this personally, we all get ignored sometimes. Just like in real life. Gwynne

I think that when I first subscribed to this site, it felt rather like being one of the youngest in the first year at a new school. I read the threads with interest. It was quite a while before I actually said anything. I have discovered that there are some very nice people here. :-) Joy

Well I am sure you have all noticed that I have been around for a few months now (since February I think) and if I have something to say I say it, without thinking about siding with anyone - it's just my opinion or advice and I just chuck it in the pot, so to speak. I have already directly contacted or been directly contacted by several folk and find them all as pleasant and caring as I hope I am to others. I'm not out to upset anyone or be spiteful, it is just nice to have intelligent or otherwise discussions with similar people to myself. So no I am not scared - you can take me or leave me - if I unintentionally offend anyone then please let me know in a direct contact mail and I will amend, apologise or disappear!!!

Well said Liz, I am fairly new as well. I do enjoy these boards but would not use them if I found it at all intimidating. I enjoy `meeting` the people on the GR boards and most seem very nice. Love and Peace to all Marianne. xxxx

Gerri is a <<< cowardy custard!.....A thread killer!.....A nobody!......A pal of Pats! lol A someone that never likes confrontations! A someone that never means to offend!.... ME! A someone that through years of using chat rooms/boards has found that using EMOTICONS (funny faces) helps with showing expressions!!!!! GR needs!!! some form of emoticons!!!!!!!! I was talking last night on messenger to someone from these boards that has recently been banned for a certain time....(She's now back with us by the way) There is NO way she would have been banned for what she said on here if she had emoticons at hand! Get with it GR!!! I am one that has a warped SOH and NEED emoticons! I love this outlet! I come on this thread when Im seeing double looking on censuses...'light reliefe' but scared to contribute. I dont want enimies/enymies/enimyes/enimes/enimyes.(not friends) lol lost me dickshunery....sorry Gerri x
