Teresa & Bob What a shock you have had today, my heartfelt sympathy to you both, along with lots of positive thoughts and good wishes. As everyone has said so far, there is so much they can do already for cancer, and they are finding new cures and treatments all the time, so try not to think the worst until you have been back to the doctors, or better still seen the specialist...(i know thats easy for me to say, and harder for you to do)...and you have had all your questions answered. I wish you both all the luck in the world and i hope you get better news soon. Yvette

Teresa, My friend had a slow form of Leukemia. It was detected, as was your husband's, through a routine blood test 8 years ago. At first she had to attend hospital every month, then every three months, then six months and so on. She has now been told she does not have to attend anymore. The Leukemia is no longer detectable. Take heart love. I hope your husband has the same happy ending as my friend. Jean x.

Hi Teresa and Bob... so sorry to hear your news, but take heart, all may not be as bad as it seems. Great steps forward are being made all the time, and thank goodness it is a slow form of the disease. It seems likely that the specialist will be able to give a good prognosis, and medical advancements in these sort of blood disorders will probably mean that Doug will continue to live a full, healthy and long life. Best wishes from England (And my GR discovered cousin in Calgary will no doubt join me in sending huge hugs to you both xxxxxxxxxx) Dee x

Teresa I am able to imagine how you are feeling. It is a terrible thing to have news like this but it is important to be positive however hard it may seem. Over recent years immense strides have been made into cancer research and it is well within the realms of possibility that a cure will be found within the next 5 years. Len

Hi Thoughts are with you. There are many different types of cancers/leukemias. I was told last year that I have a skin cancer & so feared the worse. I'm 37. Have recently been told that I have a normal life expectancy though ! My great Uncle has had Leukemia for well over 5 years - nothing has changed in him. Hope you get to see the specialist soon to put all of your minds at ease & stop them racing round with all kinds of different scenarios. I wouldn't look too much for answers to questiosn on the internet as you always find worse case scenarios. Penny
