Teresa hard to know what to say that will help you but if you believe in the power of prayer and positive thoughts then that is what I'm sending you and Bob, is it the Leukemia that he can have a bone marrow transplant for ? as my sister inlaw had that and is 15 years on and as fit if not fitter than most people her age, what an awful shock as from your post it doesnt sound as though he wasn't feeling well, and maybe because they have found it early he will be able to beat it , I would go on the net to every site that has info and take it all in and sort out what you can do that will be best for this , like organic food, only maybe vegetarian, or juices it can only help if you do it, I would try it all, as lots of people have gone into remission much to the shock of the traditional doctors just with diet etc hope my ravings help but I feel so helpless and I'm sending a big (((((((((((((HUG )))))))))))) for both of you ,Love Lara xx |

Dear Teresa, Although I've never spoken to you before I just want you to know that both you and Bob are in my prayers and believe me, I trust in God for miracles! Please also try to take some comfort from those people who have been able to share their own experiences with you. It often helps when you know that there are others in a similar predicament. God bless you and your family, Aileenx |

Report to the National Cancer Advisory Board(NCAB), USA, by NCAB Working Group on Biomedical Technology Feb 2005 ended:- Conclusion: We stand at a unique moment in the fight against cancer. Scientific progress has revealed the basic outlines of the cellular mechanisms of cancer and laid the foundation for powerful new approaches to the understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Technology now has great potential to accelerate this work by creating broad application methods, tools and databases. NCI should respond vigorously by creating regular mechanisms to identify and seize those technology-based opportunities likely to have a wide-ranging impact on cancer. I hope, Teresa, that the above abstract will add weight to my earlier posting in which I said 'think positive' as answers may soon be coming. In the meantime, my thoughts and best wished are with you and Bob. Len |

Hi Teresa. You have my sympathy and my best wishes. I am in the same position as you.My husband was diagnosed with Leukemia 5 years ago.It was the same type Chronic which is slower than the Acute. Your husband may not need treatment for years yet as everyone is different. My husband has had Chemo in the form of tablets which he would take 9 every morning for a week and then have 3 weeks off and go back for a check up. He has regular bloods taken to keep an eye on his condition. This type of Chemo did not give you hair loss or sickness and was well tolerated by him. He had the course for 6 months and went into remission for 18months then started the treatment again. There are other forms of treatment but he was on a trial which was being done by the UK specialists and was world wide and the computer decided what treatment each person should be on.His treatment has been around about 20 years so he wasnt on anything new.We are in NZ. He was told he wouldn't need treatment for 10 years but as everyone is different that wasn't the case for him. I know it is scary as we cried buckets when we first found out. It seemed so unfair as he had already had prostate cancer 9 years ago.Hes 67 now . Try not to worry he might be one who will not need treatment for many years. My thoughts are with you both Margaret |
