I am in tears as I write this, my deepest sympathies to baby Luke's family and friends, and may the memories of their brave little fighter sustain them through this sad time. Time will slowly ease their pain but they will never forget him. God bless his little soul.

It must be so hard for your colleague to cope with her grief. My niece has had twin girls this year, three months' premature and they have just gone over 6lbs each in weight, we are so relieved (less than 3lbs when born beg May) - it is wonderful what can be done these days but I have severe reservations about babies being kept alive who may have long term extensive damage...but if it was mine....?
