Here you go Jacq, my favorite Christmas Carol. O Holy Night O holy night, the stars are brightly shining, It is the night of our dear Saviours birth. Long may the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt it's worth. A thrill of hope the weary heart rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices, O night devine,O night when Christ was born, O night, O holy night, O night devine. Led by the light of faith serenely beaming With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand. So led by a light of star sweetly gleaming, Here came the wise men from the orient land. The King of Kings lay in lowly manger, In all our trials born to be our friend He knows our need To our weakness no stranger Behold your King, before the lowly bend, Behold your King, before him bend. Truely he taught us to love one another, His law is love and His gospel is peace. Chains he shall break for the slave is hour brother And in his name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymna of joy in grateful chorus rise we, Let all within us praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord Then ever, ever praise we. His pow'r and glory ever more proclaim, His pow'r and glory ever more proclaim. |

Because it is so hot at Christmas here we don't usually have the Traditional Chritams Dinner to have the oven on for me would be unberable even with the aircon on. At first when I came here38 years ago I really missed it but you get used to it after a while. We usually have all the lovely Prawns Cold Meats of all varieties and lot's and lot's of different salads. Strawberries and Cream are always on the menu and of course the traditional English Trifle with sherry of course. And I usually also make a Cheesecake as this is my families favourite. Occasionally depending on where we go there is always the good old BBQ also. But usually BBQ prawns or Fish at Christmas (Not Steak and Bangers) Here are a couple of songs I particularly like I Love this song by Cliff Richard Mistletoe and Wine. The child is king, the carollers sing The old has passed, there's a new beginning Dreams of Santa, dreams of snow Fingers numb, faces aglow Chorus Christmas time, mistletoe and wine Children singing Christian Rhymes With logs on the fire, Gifts on the tree A time to rejoice in the good that we see A time for living, a time for believing A time for trusting, not decieving Love and laughter, and joy everafter Ours for the taking, just follow the master Repeat Chorus A time for giving, a time for getting A time for forgiving and for forgetting Christmas is love, Christmas is peace A time for hating and fighting to cease Repeat Chorus 3 times Another of my favourites is by Andy Williams Happy Holiday Happy Holiday, Happy Holiday While the merry bells keep ringing Happy Holiday to you It's the holiday season And Santa Clause is coming round The Christmas snow is white on the ground When old Santa get's into town He'll be coming down the chimney down Coming down the chimney down Its the holiday season and Santa Clause Has got a toy For all the good girls and good little boys Santa's a great big bundle of joy When he's coming down the chimey down Coming down the chimney down ***** He'll have a big fat sack upon his back And lot's of goodie's for you and for me So leave a pepermint stick for old St Nick Hanging on the Christmas tree It's the holiday Season So whoop dee doo and Dickory Dock And don't forget to hang up your sock 'Cos just exactly at twelve o' clock He'll be coming down the Chimney down Coming down the Chimney down Repeat from ***** The best part at Christmas is when I see My Grandchildren open their presents. You can't beat that. Regards Jackie |

I laughted myself sick when I first heard this last Christmas. It is a very Australian sort of parody - so I apologise in advance if it upsets anyone. it is sung in a very solemn way, straight faced. The Holy and the Ivy if they come up in your yard Then go and get the roundup and hit the mongrels hard The feral pig and cane toad have a right to exist But they don't fit our ecology And make awful christmas gifts The rabbit is a dreadful pest and introduced of course But it makes a bonzer Christmas gift With gravy and plum sauce The privet and lantana are an absolute eyesore And whoever introduced them has a lot to answer for |

Just so you don't think I've missed the meaning of Christmas entirely................. Sung to Good King Wenceslas Good old Walter King looked out On his crop of barley Bless my soul and blow me down That looks to me like Charlie Haven't seen him round these parts For many a long year Reckon I might offer him A glass of Christmas cheer Agnes put the kettle on Quick as you are able Let us make another place For him at the table he looks a little worse for wear His clothes are old and baggy it's a long and weary road For an honest swaggie Mates they'd been in years before Noe the two were older And so he welcomed Charlie in Hand upon his shoulder Gladly those three feasted there And in the warmth of sharing The Christmas season brought again A time of peace and sharing. I love going to the shopping centres and singing along to the carols at Christmas :) |
