Mercy, Mercy was first recorded by Don Covay in the early 1960s - popular dance hit in the clubs. It was a brilliant record, so was his 1974 hit It's Better to Have (and Don't Need). The Travelling Wilbury's (according to the sleeve notes on the album I've got) were Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne (formerly Idle Race, The Move, ELO). Just remembered two other contenders for most over-rated & overplayed single Popcorn by Hot Butter There's No-one Quite Like Grandma by some kids' school choir CB >|<

Gloria - I TOLD you he told Porkies!! lol I still dont know who/what is Babylon Zoo?? Linda - 'Come on Eileen' is about a young Irish lad asking a shy Irish maiden to go courting with him (or something like that!) (Sorry for the delay in responding, hubbie woke up just as the LMS 9.35 from St Pancras to York was drawing into the station - yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn) Night night to all - see you in the morning as my old Welsh grannie would say (just before she downed a bottle of Scotch) Jacqui

The Travelling Wilberries for the uninitiated contained, amongst other lates and greats - Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Eric Clapton etc etc etc. Brilliant!!! Johnny Ray was even before my time Mr Owen Sir - didnt he used to cry in the chapel? Linda - I quite liked the Rockafellar couple - I vaguely remember them from my mother's time! lol Jacqui

Louise - who is Babylon Zoo? What does he/she sing? 'Come on Eileen' holds special memories for me - I think it's wonderful. I didnt actually realise what the chap was singing about until my son enlightened me! I just thought it was a jolly song!! I actually like the Travelling Wilberries - anyone ever heard of them (and I dont mean you Mary Bonner!) Jacqui

I have to say Lou I do quite like Whitney - some crap songs but a wicked voice. Beatles don't do it for me either. I only remember Robert Palmer doing Mercy Mercy me. As for Robbie's new single - pah! Jacqui:) I don't know how old Linda has told you I am but if it ain't a good decade under her age she's lying
