Hi Sally, The buttertubs pass is a high road that links Wensleydale with Swaledale, the scenery is spectacular, if you don't mind heights, there are some sheer drops from the road.. http://www(.)yorkshire-dales(.)com/buttertubs(.)html remove brackets

Mornin Christine, no, no ricecake this morning, ate too much Thai food last night, a bit greasy, so I had an Actimel and a cuppa...ta anyway.... Paul, thanks, the buttertubs sound great, being 1/2 Scottish I love that sort of scenery......sorry to be a bore, but why buttertubs?

He has always been good at model making Christine. Shame though I don't like boats so he doesn't get to bring them in the house. This one is a Dutch Beamer a Trawler. Will be nice when he has done I have no doubt. It will be radio controlled so can go on the lake . We have a lovely boating lake here. The life boat was really good a man from the RNLI gave his the exact paint that is used on the life baot . Was really nice will have a root and see if I still have the pictures they took of it on the lake. If so will put them on Germaine x

Sally, I've no idea why the name exactly...there are some very unusual looking hillocks at the top that have been likened to a herd of sleeping elephants , they could be mistaken for burial mounds but are a natural, geological feature....maybe the name refers to those..
