(Pilgrim Father - you'll be sorry you invited me to add comments, lol!) GRIMSHAW I have this name in my tree. It has two roots that I have found, the first being from the Manor of Grimshaw in Lancs.(Records back to 1137, and mentioned in Domesday Book) The second is more interesting. It is a derivation of the word 'Scrimgeour' (pronounced Scrimshaw). A scrimgeour was one who carved in bone, usually whale or narwal bone. Olde Crone
