That sounds about right ! Neices and nephews are great aren't they, as you get to give them back at the end of the day/weekend... not that I have any nephews... (I just typed eth instead of the then but managed to spot and correct it).

Paul I don't have any children - but the point at where he steals my parking space is normally when I've detoured on the way home from work to pick up my nieces and nephew who come and stop every weekend with me. My solution to this situation is to have a drive built at the front of the house - we have by far the largest garden and can fit a good four spaces in there and cause the on street parking to lose at least two. Which will make me very happy in a gloating kind of way The transposing thing has got to be THE most annoying thing - and even though I know I do it and watch out for it it still happens. You may find comfort like I did when I was told it happens because our brains operate at a greater speed than our typing fingers can cope with and therefore we're MEGA clever

Paul Report 12 Jul 2006 10:45

Zoe, I didn't know you had three small children. Not that its relevant. Parking is awful where I live too... its a small cul-de-sac of 9 houses and between us we have about 20 cars (we only have 1). I have a small drive and a garage, so parking isn't a problem, but actually getting in and out of the cul-de-sac is sometimes... Another irritation is that I often transpose letters in fairly ordinary words and don't notice, so THE becomes TEH... but looking at Zoe's post, I'm not the only one, so thats a comfort ;o)

oh - I'm with Gillian on the drivers thank you thing where we live its impossible for two cars to drive down thr road at teh same time to it' kind of a given that you pull into the ends of roads and let people pass - BUT I get REALLY bad rage if I've sat and waited for someone to pass through and they don't acknowledge. More often than not its the workers accessing the business estate using our roads as a short cut and the guy who's going out with the girl who lives at the top of our road (which is a cul-de-sac) who chooses to park his car in my space every weekend before I get home. (He's over EVERY weekend now for a shagfest I assume) Technically it's NOT my designated space but it's outside my house and llike evryone on the road I park in the same spot everyday, and he's stood before and watched me struggle in from over the road with three small children and all their overnight stuff. Why can't he park up the bit of the road where she lives? Why can't he annoy her next door neighbours? I may be here all day by th eway - I've become VERY angry recently

Gillian, Yes, not just drivers who don't say thanks either... I'm one of those old fashioned types that holds doors open for people etc and the amount of people who just breeze through without even a glance let alone a thank you... people are getting ruder and ruder these days and it's NOT just the young ones either. 1)the part of the Suprmarket aisle that must be fitted with really strong magnets and makes shopping trolleys immovable and block up the whole aisle two abreast not allowing anyone to pass - even the poor person who's just trying to scoot around quickly with a basket. If you're stopping with your trolley think of the aisle as a road and the trolley your car. Parking directly across from someone means you wing mirror will get knocked off - parking a little up the road from each other allows other cars to pass!! 2) Supermatkets that stay open 24 hours and therefore should be more convenient but who only have one checkout open (always being used by someone shopping for a family of 8 for the next month whilst you have one thing in your basket). AND the fact that they shut the cigarette counter at 10pm when the only reason I'm shopping at 2am is cos I'm desperate for ciggies. that's it for now - but I'm sure I'll think of other things that have annoyed me in the last 7 months Z

Gwynne, Glad to be of service. I agree totally with every point you make there... our house is constantly covered in dog hair, no matter how often we clean/vacuum, its always there, and there probably is a doggy smell, we're just used to it so don't notice. However, I'd never dream ot taking Lucy to someone house without asking first/knowing that they're dog lovers. P xx

Guinevere Report 12 Jul 2006 10:14

How convenient that this has resurfaced - I was about to compose a post about the following. I don't have a dog, never wanted one, or a cat either. They smell and houses that dogs and cats live in smell of them, which is fine if you don't mind but I do. Pets also moult and I hate housework so don't want to hoover the furniture on a daily basis.. So why do people who know how I feel bring their dogs when they come to see me without even asking if I mind? A friend called yesterday with her 'new' rescue dog. As yet it is untrained and seems to think it's OK to climb on my furniture and leave hair. Not the dog's fault. I pushed it down as politely as I could and it sat and licked its bits for a while. Then it decided I was its bestest friend and jumped up and tried to lick me. How gross is that? My friend was a bit miffed when I yelled at it to get off me but for goodness sake would anyone want that tongue near them? Yuk yuk and double yuk. Gwynne

Luckily I have few irritations, and have had to think of some...... Prolonged sound dips on Big Brother Ditto, especially when something interesting is being said... Someone taking the last parking space when I am in a hurry Shoppers having discussions in the middle of the aisles. Mothers screaming at children (more nuisance than the child) Items I want being on the top shelf Items advertised, but not available and shelf is empty mostly shopping ones it seems.....

People who use mobile phones whilst driving. HATE it ... and want to report every single one of them to the police. Biggest culprit ... my daughter, who, if she hadn't been driving at the time, would have got the sharpest slap she's ever had the other day. PLEASE IGNORE your mobile whilst your driving :-( Elaine :-)

forgot about this thread ! Time to resurect it... Today moan... People who don't wear seatbelts when they're driving. WHY ??? Why would you not ???? It's not just the young boy racer types either... I often see people with no seaybelts and it seems to be a complete cross section. Saw a woman of about 35 today driving a car with no seatbelt, and she had 3 kids in the car, all in childseats... so if she has a crash, the kids should be Ok, but she could end up dead... where's the sense in that ?

shops that sell food at full price with only a couple of days before their best before (bought two packs of cooked meat from ASDA on Friday night, went to open them today, one was best before Saturday, one best before Monday, so both went in bin).

People who walk down the middle of the road (or in todays case, car park (no car anywhere near)), when there's a perfectly adequate pathway down the side of it ...

1 people who end every sentence with 'do you know what I mean' 2 adverts that are miles louder than the tv programme they appear in 3 feature films shown either side of the evening news 4 people who you invite over for xmas, and go out of your way to cater for (to the extent of having the house altered to accommodate their disabilities and buying furniture to suit them), who drop out at the last minute for no reason and then sulk because they've been on their own as if its your fault (said with feeling) 5 families who own 5 cars and take every single space in the residents' car parking area so you have to walk miles to get to your front door - or who wait for you to go out in your car, run outside and move one of their cars into the empty space before you've even got to the end of the road 6 people who play games on mobile phones on the train with the sound up And many more Angela

I've corrected my typing errors, especially for you CB lol Daisy - yes it's as adaptation of the book, which I haven't read so I can't really make a comparison. The film was OK (beautifully shot), not the sort of film I'd usually go and see, but there wasn't much on, we were froze and just wanted to sit down for a couple of hours lol
