Devily 12c in Yarrawonga, sorry bs its about -5 I'm sure oh how can you stand the cold over there oh well I guess it doesn't matter if it's warm inside Sue don't worry about washing girl it will be dry when it's dry same here as washing line on the unsunny side of house and put it out and sometimes a day later still damp so then dry in front of gas fire now . Is there anything colder than hanging out washing this time of the year think the Yanks have the right idea and dry everything in the dryer your hands must nearly be frost bitten Vonny, shock horror doing fh I can't find anybody might bite the bullet and have a look at hotmatches they are probably up to about 50 pages by now . Hello Joodles you must be feeling better how was grandson has he grown ? Hello Heather in Albury , did you get my funnies ? We just got about 6 drops of rain here just now wishing for more but not snow thanks, will talk to you all later and hope the peeps in Brissie are having a ball good luck to them Love Lara |

Just added another link to my Ozzie thread on the tips board. Dont know if any of the Wattlers had Publicans in Victoria during the 19th Century...but thought i would list it just in case. Think Rebs said some of her Ancestors ran pubs in Vic.? Some of mine certainly did. All listed in Alphabetical order A to Z http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb(.)com/~pobjoyoneill/publicans/publicans.htm Tony Oz...:>)) Hugs to you also....U.K peeps. |

Good on ya Tony, Laurie and I had a scoundrel relative who among other things was supposedly a publican around the Ned Kelly area (1866). (His eldest daughter made the funeral dress for Ned Kellys mother and sister.) He was also a Coach Driver, Mail driver, Sawyer, Carpenter, Millwright, Labourer amd raced horses. Sadly his name is not there. Hi Lara, went to the big shops today, took it slowly .. just dont enjoy looking around the way I feel atm, was glad to get home .. but at least I got out for a while. .. Still cold and wet here in the mountains. .. Will put my elecky blanket on soon and jump into bed for a while (get ready for the party tonight .. tho we could start any time really, couldnt we?) Waste of time hanging clothes out in this weather, I agree. .. The yanks have the right idea using dryers but then all their clothes are pre-shrunk. .. (Imagine the electricity bill) .. My yankee friends are horrified that we hang our 'smalls' on the line outside for everyone to see .. geez .. (Stop covering your eyes King Cold) Jood |

Thanks Tony, found a site off your list. Next Question: does anyone know if a convict can get married if they haven't got a pardon/ticket of leave or cert of freedom.? Vonny |

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!! They are having a ball up there in Brissie. .. Laurie just phoned me and I could barely hear for all the giggling and carrying on. .. They were serious about the tiaras and boas (omg again) .. Rebs was sweet, she said hello - and started to tell me what a sight they looked when she first met them, but beyond that .. dunno what they are up to except they're having a rip-roaring time!!!!! I'm expecting to get a picture soon from Laurie's phone to my email. .. They must be pretty 'under the weather' cause all they were doing was laugh lol. There are 12 altogether including a few spouses, Terry, Ray & Neville were some of them. Jood *envious* |

Vonny. Think a Convict could still marry without a ticket of leave or pardon.Especially female convicts. Barbs G,G,Grandma and Grandfather were married within the 7 year term of her sentence. Quote: Convict applications for marriage: Convicts wanting to marry needed to seek permission from the Governor. An application to marry often included personal details about both parties, even if one was not a convict. Tasmanian Archives Index to convict marriage banns, 1826-41 Fiche 5270-5277 Tony Oz..:>)) |

Thenks Tony :( Waaaay tooo many John Hall's then to go through. My John Hall and Mary Chilvers got married at St Lukes Liverpool in 1839 but there is no clue (yet) of where John came from. I found a 'ticket of leave' in 1842 and another in 1843 for a John Hall in the Liverpool district and a 'cert of freedom' for the same guy in 1844 but not sure which district. Vonny are there records of asking permission to marry? For NSW I mean |

Vonny. When Barb applied for her Convict marriage records we had to go to the Tassie Archives and apply. Not to sure about N.S.W...but one would think it would be the same. Not sure if you have the N.S.W state records link. http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/staterecords/welcome_to_state_records_nsw_1556.asp State Archives...then Index's online. You could ring them to make an enqiurey. There are 15 John Hall on the 1828 census for N.S.W but not sure when your John Hall arrived? Tony Oz...:>)) ps. Sounds as though the Brissie lot are having a ball ( Boas n'all )...lol Good one.....:>)) |

Hi again We definately will need to have a look at pics of the meet in Brissie, sounds like they are having soo much fun. Lara has it warmed up any??? Sorry the weather station lied about your temps lol. You mentioned about my hands being frozen after hanging out the washing, well nearly, they was all red and stinging with the cold, nothing sitting in nice warm water didnt fix after a couple of minutes. David and myself are kid free so we took the chance to cuddle up next to the heater and watch some WWE. Cheers Sue |

Tony, Thanks for the addy. Just going on age (which might be wrong as hubby had a convict aged 10!) but for the sake of starting somewhere I looked up all records of John Hall from 1820 as mine was born in 1809. (or so he says!) Then I eliminated all not guilties and prison sentences and was left with three transportees from Dec 1828 - Dec 1833. of about the right age although the 1828 is the best match. So sorry, he wasn't in the 1828 census. What is the next census or muster date? I know he met Mary in the Liverpool district and they married in 1839 so I am hoping for some periferal (sp) info to link them to a ship or something. There are tons of guys named John Hall!! Vonny |

Mary - that sounds good :) Hope you get a buyer out of them. Isn't it funny, my dad built our house and the kitchen cupboards were only finished when they went to sell (after 35 years or so) because Dad said they couldn't sell it with out the kitchen being finished!! I'm tired of FH for the day - head is spinning. Going to take a break and will be back on computer a bit later. ~~~~~~ Vonny |
