It's my granparents who seem more involved actually. I seem to get on better with them when discussing history matters than I do my own parents. I was born 100 years too late I think :-) |

Interesting you should say that about your Grandparents Daniel. Glad they help you. My 15 year old Grandson is especially interested in history (not just family) and is always keen to discuss every aspect under the sun with me. He's always encouraging me to talk about my chidhood, life etc. I find it very touching, as in this day and age every mag.and news article seems to be youth obsessed,( not that I wouldn't want to be young again LoL) I might add i'm always interested in the events in his life too. Cheers! Got a nice email off my foreword writer too: 'Dan You just caught me before I jet off to Dublin to do TV, radio and press interviews and signings. 'Horrible Histories - Dublin' has gone straight to Number 1 in the Children's best-seller charts over there. One day that sort of thing will happen to you! The Irish No. 1 is pretty good news but to see your new cover somehow gives me an even greater thrill. Not only is it a smashing cover but of course it is your first. I am utterly confident that this is the first of very many. I didn't start till I was 30 and I've just published No. 155 so you can easily beat me by the time you're my age (60 this January). When I get back from Dublin I hope to have advance copies of my TV series with your drunken Wirral funeral included. (The programmes have to be edited down to 23 minutes, not a second more, and a standalone item like the Wirral story would be easy to chop if that episode over-runs. Will have to wait till I see the programme before I am quite sure your tale has survived. I sincerely hope so. I'll keep you informed. The series goes out for 6 weeks at 6 p.m. on Sundays from 30 April 06. You'll be able to see it on Granada.) 2005 was a dreadful year for me with the funerals of 4 people who were close to me and a great influence on my life. 2006 is a fresh start and it is going to be quite the opposite - a brilliant year. My crystal ball tells me it is going to be equally good for you. I am so proud of what you've achieved. You're a star and you've achieved it without the usual author advantages of public school and university education. That makes it extra special. Onwards and upwards TD' Arrr |
