Killjoy things I think tokens are so Chrispy please don't go that far Little things that are a surprise are best something that's a treat will pass the test My lifelong friends who live nearby are the sort of people for whom I don't know what to buy Now I get one or two luxury things that happiness to them it brings Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do I can't compete with their spending, so Presents are unusual, and they show that I've thought about them and they know Quite how much they mean to me without embarrasing them or me

Very pleased to read your advice Dorothy G. Its what my OH said to me! Well, he says gift vouchers look as if you didn't think Whereas a personal thought puts people in the pink! Xtra hard to to get the balance right. I could whittle and worry all the night. Yesterday I bought my neice a gift, Expensive bath oils to give her a lift. Z, well this is the last letter. Shall I finish here, would I feel much better? And later on my sister rang To give me a list, (it went down with a bang!!!) Buy the children gift vouchers she said straight away Just the thing to wreck my day!! Can I still give my neice the present I bought. Or buy a gift voucher, as I think I ought! Do I buy her other children a voucher now? Signing out here with a defeated bow!

I'm glad to see you Norah dear, back from your warm holiday Just in time for the Christmas fun even if we haven't got much sun Kaleidoscopes - now you never see them! were favourite gifts from way back when Likely kids wouldn't think much today if you gave them one - they'd throw it away Many things like that we often received and probably always very pleased Now it has to be ''techie'' to bring pleasure to fill the increasing hours of leisure

Oh Dorothy I think you are right. Christmas is so commercial, it is such a fright. Presents have to be the latest craze, Has me rushing round in a daze. Quite what does Christmas mean today. What do you think, what can we say?

Don't believe it, Ron's gone off again to Wales, and Rain - and Not to Sunny Spain! Even so I am sure he'll enjoy hmself amongst those Welsh Valleys For there's Leeks and Daffodils and singing a-plenty Gosh, no, not finished Christmas shopping not much to get now and soon will be stopping Have one or two more items yet to get must admit have done a fair bit on the Internet! I hate crowded town centres and the traffic is dreadful, so it's easier that way and my blood-pressure stays stable! Just hoping that we might reach that magic one thousand - what do you think? Kris Krimble is looming fast so please keep rhyming until Christmas is past

**chrispy** Report 12 Dec 2006 21:41

Oh so lovely to read all your Christmas thoughts As we battle with shopping, wines, biscuits and ports. Presents are so hard to choose Rushing around, no time to lose. Quite agree with my friend Dorothy G. Busy shopping centres are no fun for me. Rushing, pushing, noisy crowds I hate I like a quiet walk with my dog and coffee with a mate So difficult to find things for teenage boys. They are too old for childhood toys. They like digital cameras, music too loud to bear X boxes, mobile phones and hoodies to wear Unless you know the latest craze You could wander the shops in a bemused daze

Z-ed - how I hate that letter I'll just move on, and make it better A big hello to Susan there, nice to see you - and welcome here Big task we've got, to try to amaze with one thousand postings in thirteen days! Christmas Day is looming - can we do it? I think it's doubtful what do you think?
