Jesus drew near and said to them, 'I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28 v 18 - 20 Good News Bible. grace and peace, Vonny

Then Jesus said to His disciples,'If anyone wants to come with me,he must forget self, carry his cross, and follow me.' For whoever wants to save his own life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Will a person gain anything if he wins the whole world but loses his life? Of course not! There is nothing he can give to regain his life. For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to his deeds. Matthew 16 v 24-27 Good News Bible. Gwyn I will be without a computer for a few days(its going in for a health check)!

The Parable of the Good Samaritan. Luke 10 v 29 - 37 ...............the expert in the Law asked Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?' In reply Jesus said: 'A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' 'Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?' The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.' Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'

How great are God's riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways? As the scripture says: 'Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice? Who has ever given him anything so that he had to pay it back?' For all things were created by him, and all things exist through him and for him. To God be the glory forever! Amen. Romans 11 v 33 - 26 Good News Bible

Ash Wednesday. And when you fast,do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair,so that others cannot know that you are fasting----only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you. Matthew 6 v 16--18 Good News Bible. Gwyn

The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double edged sword. It cuts all the way through to where the soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of man's heart. There is nothing that can be hidden from God; everything in all creation is exposed and lies open before his eyes. And it is to him that we must give an account of ourselves. Hebrews 4 v 12 - 13 Good News Bible grace and peace, Vonny

As Jesus was going down down the road, he saw a tax collector, Matthew, sitting at a tax collection booth. 'Come and be my disciple,' Jesus said to him, and Matthew jumped up and went along with him. Later, as Jesus and his disciples were eating dinner (at Matthew's house), there were many notorious swindlers there as guests. The Pharisees were indignant. 'Why does your teacher associate with men like that?' 'Because people who are well don't need a doctor! it's the sick people who do!' was Jesus' reply. Then he added, 'Now go away and learn the meaning of this scripture: It isn't your sacrifices and your gifts I want - I want you to be merciful.' For I have come to urge sinners, not the self-righteous, back to God. Matthew 9 v 9 - 13. Living Bible
