Again, thanks for the replies, Think its a bit of a dead parrot now. As a matter of interest i was told that the workmen spotted them having sex through binoculars. The mind boggles. Happy days

Felicity,Im sorry but to me anyone who has Sex with a child is most certainly a Peadophile(spelling)! Lynda,Im with you 100%!!

thank you for putting that up Felicity Similar thing to my daughter. Her teacher affair was slashed across all the local newspapers. He was jailed but appealed and only served 3 months. They are still together and have 2 beautiful daughters. Even though I do not agree with their relationship it is their choice.

At the risk of being branded a pedant, can we please get the definition correct? The teacher in question may be many things but she is not necessarily a paedophile. That is someone who is sexually attracted to children in the plural in the way that heterosexuals are attracted to the opposite sex and homosexuals are attracted to the same sex. Paedophiles are characterized by a whole range of behaviours and are generally predatory in their pursuit of their 'targets'. What this woman did was certainly inappropriate and it is right that she was punished, but to brand her a paedophile is simply inaccurate based on the evidence available at present - of which there may be much more I agree. However, sex with a child does not automatically equal 'paedophile'. There was much in the news here (USA) of a teacher who began a relationship with a 13-year-old pupil. She had 2 children with him and served a prison sentence but they are now married and making a life together. This woman was branded a paedophile but maintained - as history is perhaps bearing out - that she simply fell in love with a boy who was older than his years. Not the same, certainly, as taking advantage of a developmentally-challenged youngster, but the 'not necessarily a paedophile' point remains.

I think she got what was coming to her. It's absolutely sordid, utterly immoral... I understand why you'd be sympathetic towards the woman but in my humble opinion that isn't consequential. It's sad to see that the thread got a bit personal. As others have said, having moral fibre can only be commended. It was really interesting reading through this thread. Thank you Harry :-)

Point taken Lynda, Im just trying to see it from a Male point of view ! we dont always see it the same! Just like Im not qualified to see it from female point of view, your not qualified to see it from male point of view. But I repeat NOBODY can condone what a person of trust like a Teacher has done! she had to be punished. Davex

Thanks Lynda ,I dont condone what this woman did at all she should have had self control. Boys dont always have that control when they are young so I think he would have seen it as an ego trip! especially 10 times Davex

WELL I think that no matter what sex the teacher is she abused her position of trust. An abuser is an abuser whatever sex they are.A male teacher too could plead they loved the child, but make no bones about it ,it was a child, but they abused their position. The first experience of sex for whatever gender that is can set the child on a course for life. I don't wish to go into any family details but we have personal experience of child abuse &&&& its effects now in later life despite lots of counseling

Interesting point Lynda made, BUT what if a 17 year old girl fell in love with a 14 years old boy and had sex with him ! she is old enough he isnt ! Is she a paedophile even though she isnt much more than a child? Technically Yes! but each case has to be judged on its merits, we cant call everybody who has sex with under age boys or girls paedophiles surely? Dave

What she did was wrong, but 4 years is a bit over the top. The 'poor lad' doesn't sound to me as though he objected. 10 times? come on get real, he enjoyed every minute. Hard smack on wrist what was needed here. Loosing job as teacher was enough surely?

Val Report 28 Jun 2006 22:33

I have a 13yr old son with behaviour problems and his english and maths are for a 9yr old so I am sorry but kids with these kind of problems act younger than there age so she deserves the sentence and more as she is in a position of trust of and no teacher be it male or female should be having sex with a child under 16yr in there care or not

Thanks for printing the article Daniel. Don't live in the UK, so hadn't seen it. I agree that, as a teacher, she had overstepped the mark - especially with a young lad who had behavioural problems already. Even if he hadn't, it would most probably have 'disturbed' him in some way after the relationship 'cos it's really not the natural 'run of events' to say the least! Let me just add that I do admire your sense of morals Daniel. Margaret

the teacher involved with my daughter appealed against his sentence and only served 3 months inside. He is on the sex offenders register for 10 years. All my daughters friends were sleeping around at the time with their boyfriends which they were constantly swaping but none of them got charged with under age sex. It is only because he was a teacher that he was used to be made an example of..

David I was trying to be subtle.....! In my time banking was hard, because it was rather difficult to make a deposit, until you were 18, or a student.
