Hi, I stopped smoking on February 3rd because I was ill and I am so glad I did! I now feel so much better & don't stink like an ashtray anymore. It was really quite difficult for the first couple of weeks but well worth it. Good luck & well done to everyone Best wishes Katherine

Hi Everyone, I am still here! I am just waiting for the right moment to quit again. I have been under enormous stress & know that a new attempt will be doomed to failure. It is so important to get it right, I am still quite angry with myself for failing. I know I will try again. I did not realise how much better I felt in those few weeks of non--smoking until I started again. Will let you know as soon as I know the date. Ang

Hi Ang, Nice to see you back, keep thinking of the positive efects of not smoking the easier breathing, the stink of smoking, you know you got so far last time so you can again and go further this time and know that Nic O' tine is waiting for just one lapse and he will be in, take it one day at a time, get a calender and mark off each day completed, which will give you a boost each time you mark one off James

Ang

Thanks James for your support. Have you thought of being a counsellor? You always say the right things but are never critical when us folks fail. Thanks ! Ang x

James Report 1 Sep 2006 15:11

Hi all and Ang If I can help support anyone who is trying to break the habit of smoking, I am glad to help, it is not easy to get rid of the addiction but it can be beaten. It took me 40 years to finally give up but I did it, as you have found out it only takes ONE cigarette and Nic O'Tine is back for its fix. Take one day at time, try and put the money you have saved into a Building Society Account and watch the money grow, mark off each day on a calender, again it will give you a boost when you feel low. When you see and smell someone who is still smoking, feel sorry for them, especially when they have to go outside in the cold and wet for their fix, because they do not have the willpower, you have to give up. Hi All Well first of all tonight at 10pm it will be 5 months since I had my last cig!! WOOHOO.. Cant believe how quick the time has gone by and yes I am very proud of myself and my family are very proud of me too. I was a 15/20 a day for 23yrs, I used the patches for 6 weeks but it was this site that kept me going. I have been around smokers when sober and when I was shall we say a touch tipsy (drunk more like) but still wouldnt touch one. I have to say that if a smoker came to my house I would offer them the ashtray outside and sit with them but all I would ask is for a smoker not to blow smoke in my direction. I think thats fair. Good luck to all those who are trying to quit the dreaded weed. First of all you really have to want to do it. James - I look forward to meeting you next summer when I return, you kept me going. For that many thanks Debs x Any of those trying to quit - If you need to rant, rave, scream or just need encouragement then pm me by all means, and take one day at a time..

Ang

Ang Report 8 Sep 2006 13:34

Hi James, hi everyone, I have been on and off the wagon so many times this week that I am dizzy. Only partial sucess :-( I give up for two days then give into temptation, then stop again two days later. On reflection I think I got my timing wrong again. I will do it, just not sure when. Don't give up on me just yet!

James

James Report 8 Sep 2006 16:21

Hi Ang and Carol, the important thing is you are trying, so don't give up, occasionaly you will have a set back but you will overcome it I'am sure, you know the worst part is the start and this time you will be on your guard against temptation. I have just started a new regime of walking around the block three time in the morning and afternoon I have a stopwatch and it takes just over 9 mins a lap. All the best James
