I don't think wether your a long standing member or not has anything to do with it! Fact is it's distasteful whoever it is-.Long standing or not. There should be no discrimination about this. If you are a longstanding member and you post something offensive then you pay the penalty, myself included in this. If cos he was new and didn't know the rules I can maybe understand, with someone having a quiet word in his shell like, hopefully it wont't happen again, but he drew the line, and he snook off and deleted his post and replies on another thread, cos he knew he had done wrong not just on this but several occasions. catherine xx

I agree Elaine! We all have the same membership rights, whether new or established, young or old. What sadly seems to be lacking is a little bit of common courtesy and respect. The humour on here is excellent - the only reason I look in. The worrying thing is the people who seem to have an agenda, who seem to be trying to fulfill some motive or other. As i said earlier, there is a difference between the Kenneth Williams 'double entendre' and this new, emerging dark side

'And the only reason he was lynched was because the person who originally posted the message was a 'long standing, and respected member'. people have also been lynched for speaking out against the poster who has been a new member or a member of a few months or around a year or two. Ive known a fairly newish person to post inappropriate things, people including myself have expressed our distaste on the thread , only to be run down by an army of the posters mates for doing so. Being a long standing member has not protected me from insults, aggravation, nastiness and other unpleasant things. Nor would it protect newbies and those in between. Its about time the quotes Because you are a Long standing member / newbie / young / old cease to exist Doesn't matter what membership standing you have on Gene's we are all members with faults, we all make boo boos on here, some we regret, some we dont, we all laugh, cry, moan and use the toilet. Lets not lay the blame on the membership length of the person, just at the crime of sorts committed. Elaine x ps took me so long to post, I now see the quote has been removed

Ruth I was thinking the same thing................I never even read last nights...........just thought to myself mind your own....... I did add th choc one...........even tried to show it was getting a bit near the bone with * faints * , but thought am I a prude, so just ignored it after that...

Ruth

Ruth Report 2 Aug 2006 11:41

I agree batman, I am not a prude either far from it and did reply to the chocolate one, but I had a strange feeling about the number of these threads and the way he replied to them. Not sure really what made me uneasy.

Lorraine Report 2 Aug 2006 11:36

Hayley - thanks for that - but the orginal 'sick' thread has been removed hasnt it ???? I agree with everything said from all against this type of thread - im just thankful that my little ones are too young to read this kind of filth. They often want to sit on my knee when im online and after this incident i think i may have to rethink that.

Batman

Batman Report 2 Aug 2006 11:36

Yes Ruth, I remember that too. He did a few 'Hello' threads, then it progressed to' Stockings or Suspenders' 'Sex or Chocolate' then something about Do you do your Hoovering naked then we had last nights drivel. By responding to his 'questions' his 'questions' have escalated into the weird zone

That's a fair comment, which I accept unreservedly. I've updated the post and removed the reference.

Lorraine

Lorraine Report 2 Aug 2006 11:33

Could it be possible that GR has deleted said posts from this member - maybe somebody has reported him and GR agreed with everything that has been said and here. Hopefully said member has also been banned.

Catherine from Manchester

Catherine from Manchester Report 2 Aug 2006 11:31

I agree Anne, what that person does is not the responsibility of another member. but Anne if you read the original post by said member, introducing said new member it started to go downhill on day 1 really, and has steadily declined ever since. catherine xx

what does it matter............as he was so brave he's deleted all his post's ........so he mustn't have felt them right anyway.....

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 2 Aug 2006 11:28

Ah Tony - I have just re read and seen your closing comment - which I think is very unfair !!!! The new person was introduced in good faith by said member - said member cannot be held responsible for a complete change of personality - which I myself have noticed having had early contact with the newer member !!!

'And the only reason he was lynched was because the person who originally posted the message was a 'long standing, and respected member'. I don't give a flying fiddly fuff who has or hasn't been here for so long. We ALL have equal rights to post on here as much as everyone else.' I so agree with these sentiments, Paul

Ruth

Ruth Report 2 Aug 2006 11:26

I did the same Anne. I saw a few more strange threads from the same person and decided there was something a bit odd going on.

Tony I have to say I totally agree with all your comments............. I deleted my own comments from one the threads in question when I saw it was turning into something less funny than initially. It all smacks of someone getting cheap thrills to me!

Maybe we don't all have the same sense of humour, and some people are offended by things that others wouldn't bat an eyelid over - and we all need to remember and respect this. However, I think there is a stark difference between the obvious humour that was the intention in (for example) Grampa's thread and some of the other threads. Human nature says 'turn the page and have a look' and what you have in Grampa's case is Carry On style humour. Maybe not to everyones taste, but it is their absolute right to express their views in whatever way they deem appropriate. (Fitz - I'm not getting at you here - you didn't agree and in my opinion went the correct way about things). But then the other threads - and especially the one's referred to earlier. They have absolutely no place on a discussion board such as this. A joke, for example, about stockings and suspenders is one thing, but to start asking personal questions is wrong. There is a time and a place - and here is not the place!! The nature of some of these posts makes me question the motives of such a member. I think members need to think very carefully before adding to threads and giving any personal details. Please please please be careful!
