Hello folks, It's 12th Night tonight, so we come to the end of the Christmas season. Epiphany tomorrow, so I hope you've all got up to date MoT certificates for your camels! Star gazing could be on but, with all this global warming, I'm afraid the local cloudbase is getting in the way! Anyway, thank you for all your contributions. I hope you've enjoyed our singalong, and I look forward to joining you again next Christmas! I'll leave this thread for the next couple of days, then I'll remove it. Best wishes, Philip |

I shall not be able to keep the singing going until Epiphany... however:- We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts we traverse afar. Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star. Chorus O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect Light. Born a king on Bethlehem's plain, Gold I bring to crown Him again, King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign. Chorus Frankincense to offer have I. Incense owns a Deity nigh. Prayer and praising all men raising, Worship Him, God on high. Chorus Myrrh is mine: Its bitter perfume Breaths a life of gathering gloom. Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding dying, Sealed in the stone-cold tomb. Chorus Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and Sacrifice. Alleluia, alleluia! Sounds through the earth and skies. Chorus |

As with gladness, men of old Did the guiding star behold As with joy they hailed its light Leading onward, beaming bright So, most glorious Lord, may we Evermore be led to Thee. As with joyful steps they sped To that lowly manger bed There to bend the knee before Him Whom Heaven and earth adore; So may we with willing feet Ever seek Thy mercy seat. As they offered gifts most rare At that manger rude and bare; So may we with holy joy, Pure and free from sin’s alloy, All our costliest treasures bring, Christ, to Thee, our heavenly King. Holy Jesus, every day Keep us in the narrow way; And, when earthly things are past, Bring our ransomed souls at last Where they need no star to guide, Where no clouds Thy glory hide. In the heavenly country bright, Need they no created light; Thou its Light, its Joy, its Crown, Thou its Sun which goes not down; There forever may we sing Alleluias to our King! |

Three kings from Persian lands afar To Jordan follow the pointing star: And this the quest of the travellers three, Where the new-born King of the Jews may be. Full royal gifts they bear for the King; Gold, incense, myrrh are their offering. The star shines out with a steadfast ray; The kings to Bethlehem make their way, And there in worship they bend the knee, As Mary’s child in her lap they see; Their royal gifts they show to the King; Gold, incense, myrrh are their offering. Thou child of man, lo, to Bethlehem The kings are travelling, travel with them! The star of mercy, the star of grace, Shall lead thy heart to its resting-place. Gold, incense, myrrh thou canst not bring; Offer thy heart to the infant King. |

1. Do you know the song that the angels sang On that night in the long ago, When the heavens above with their music rang Till it echoed in the earth below? Refrain All glory in the highest, Peace on earth, goodwill to men, Glory in the highest, Peace, goodwill to men; Glory in the highest, Glory in the highest, Peace on earth, goodwill to men. 2. Do you know the song that the shepherds heard As they watched o’er their flocks by night, When the skies bent down, and their hearts were stirred By the voices of the angels bright? Refrain 3. Do you know the story that the wise men learned As they journeyed from the east afar, O’er a pathway plain, for there nightly burned In their sight a glorious guiding star? Refrain |

1. What star is this, with beams so bright, More lovely than the noonday light? 'Tis sent to announce a newborn King, Glad tidings of our God to bring. 2. 'Tis now fulfilled what God decreed, 'From Jacob shall a star proceed'; And lo! the Eastern sages stand To read in heaven the Lord's command. 3. The guiding star above is bright; Within them shines a purer light, Which leads them on with power benign To seek the Giver of the sign. 4. True love can brook no dull delay; Nor toil nor dangers stop their way Home, kindred, father land and all They leave at their Creator's call. 5. O Jesus, while the star of grace Impels us on to seek Your face, Let not our slothful hearts refuse The guidance of Your light to use. 6. To God the Father, God the Son, And Holy Spirit, Three in One, May every tongue and nation raise An endless song of thankful praise. |

Shepherd, leave thy sheep, and hasten to Bethlehem to see the Baby Though the night is deep, come hasten to Bethlehem to see the Baby Leave them on the hill Bid them fear no ill Come and see the wondrous Child of whom the angels sing Shepherd, leave thy sheep, and haste to the manger lowly to behold Him Leave them as they sleep, for legions are watching night to surely fold them Come to Bethlehem God will guard thy lambs While thine eyes behold the Child as he lies sleeping Shepherd, leave thy sheep; secure in his care, no harm shall there befall them Shepherd, leave thy sheep; thy flock will await thee safely 'til ye call them Shepherd, leave thy sheep Angels watch shall keep O'er thy little ones, that ye may seek the newborn King |

Unto us a boy is born! King of all creation, Came he to a world forlorn The Lord of every nation Cradled in a stall was he With sleepy cows and asses But the very beasts could see That he all men surpasses Omega and Alpha he! Let the organ thunder While the choir with peals of glee Doth rend the air asunder |

The Holy City Last night I lay a-sleeping, there came a dream so fair, I stood in old Jerusalem beside the temple there. I heard the children singing and ever as they sang, Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang. Me thought the voice of angels from heaven in answer rang. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! And then me thought my dream was changed, the streets no longer rang, Hushed were the glad Hosannas the little children sang. The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chill, As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill. As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! And once again the scene was changed; new earth there seemed to be; I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea; The light of God was on its streets, the gates were open wide, And all who would might enter and no one was denied. No need of moon or stars by night, or sun to shine by day; It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away. It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away. Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Lift up your gates and sing, Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna to your King! |
