Hi all
Brenda, my mum still lives in the u.k. and just had a holiday in corfu using the insurance from Tesco's she said it was great value. Saturday lunchtime here, just got back from the dreaded shopping, absolute madness, ok so now for the 2nd load of washing for the week :) Ohhh and by the way I am an ex Brit, well still a Brit, just living in a wonderfull country, I do come home quite a lot, as my family still live there, was there last year, thinking about another trip soon, get really home sick this time of the year, xmas coming up, am actually going to ring mum tonight, got to get her to make a trip to Morrisons for me, to get the Family Tree Builder 2005 version, shame poor thing, I am always sending her on little excursions for me, if I can't buy what I want here. Anyway all, you all take care and enjoy your lovely cool weather, while I am dying of the heat, still can always turn on the air conditioner :)

Morning everyone,it's been a cold night here ,with lots of spiders webs showing on the hedges with all the dew running onto them, reminds me of my schooldays when i used to collect them in a hazel twig made into a hoop[much to the spiders disgust]
Sean has now gone back to camp ,but hopes to fly back again for Christmas, when ,hopefully we will have the house to ourselves again.
There is a house in the offing ,with Stephen and Ann going to view it on Wednesday.
Christmas is going to be a quiet one this year, with the place to ourselves and Sean,,only Martin and Chris coming Christmas day.
Sean was so good while he was on Leave, never once complaining at the loss of his room ,and his having to sleep on the settee,so we have to make it up to him somehow.
The Christmas menues are already planned and sorted ,so i intend having a lazy time of it lol.
I am off now to go out back and pick some veggies for dinner.Fred.

Goodmorning ALL !!! today they are forecasting rain hail and perhaps snow on hills Its far too late in season but may not be as bad as forecast.Every thing in garden is coming along and its time to pull out spring plants and replant with summer annuals Christmas here I like traditional meal, lamb ,new potatoes ,peas Broad beans and pud or pavalova and fruit salad . But our children are much more inclined toward BBQ So it depends what their families are doing Going camping before or after xmas or dining with other Inlaws May be a quiet day at home when hubby and I will prob cook tradional anyway .
In town they are hoping to have a meal for those who otherwise would miss out No Im not thinking of going !!but would quite like to volunteer to be a helper. I have an appointment with surgeon this week so will see what happens then I love baking and cooking I used to work in health food shop doing baking muffins bread etc

syljo Report 5 Nov 2007 17:29

Hi Dorothy and all who are looking in,
I am well on the way to being fit again. My hand is not painful any more, but I am afraid I have tingling fingers and a pricking sensation. I have to see the surgeon on Wednesday to have the stitches taken out, but the wound doesn't look right enough to me. We shall see.
Today Johan and I have been all day in Amsterdam at the University hospital there. We left here at 9.45 this morning and came back around 5.00 pm. It is so tiring. They kept asking the same questions over and over again to Johan. He is going to have his eyelids lifted, but because of being diabetic and his age- 82 - will be in hospital for at least 2 nights.
I saw my old skin specialist - the one who treated me for skin cancer - and he recognised me and came specially to see how I was. I really liked this specialist and am sorry he is now working at the University hospital, but it is progress for him and he is young - could be my son - or grandson????????
Weather permitting, I will try out my scootmobile tomorrow. I don't like Johan doing the shopping. I've already sacked him as cook and told him he will never make a cook. He agrees. No ill feelings there.

badger Report 6 Nov 2007 09:39

Hi Sylvia ,good news about your hand ,the tingles you are having will more than likely be the cut, stretched and damaged nerves repairing themselves.
My hand seems to be improving as well ,most of the feeling has come back to one of the fingersand even the small finger is getting some of the feeling back
What a lovely morning we have here ,cloudless ,warming up nicelly ,and very sunny [wahey],after a very cold night.
How things have changed after forty years as regards weather,as a bairn guy fawkes night was always frosty by six and by the time the fireworks started at seven ,the finges and toea were frozen ,even standing near the fire.
One of the highlights in those days was the tatties ,wrapped in cabbage leaves [no foil in those days ]with a knob of butter and a fork.looooverly.
Hope everyone is okay ,i will be unable to use the puter tomorow seeing as the sparky is coming to put in the new consumer unit, but i will be back Thursday.Fred.

Well went out on my scooter today and hey ho no pain in my hand. Joy, sheer joy.
When I came back I decided to make a good old fashioned cottage pie only my way. That is with a pot of baked beans in tomato sauce added to the meat and lots of grated cheese on top. Delicious. Have enough for tomorrow as tomorrow is another hospital day - and if enough time will scour the market in town. Anyway we have a meal ready and no fast food for us!
Bye for now.

goodmorning from a white winter wonderland we got hit by the snow about 4am this morning and it is still coming down but as I am not going out to-day I shall just look at it, the oldest grandson is not doing well he was back to the doc's this morning and his oxygen levals are still low but this time they have put him on several medications, his dad is in ottawa on business and being in the what I call the legal drug business will no doubt be looking into all this. he will go back to the doc's to-morrow to see if his levals have improved, I could not hear any air entry in the lower lobes when I checked him will my trust old stethascope and the upper lobes were rattly,(can't take the nurse out of me) anyway lets hope he improves as the day goes on. sylvia so happy to hear that you and your scooter were out and about that is great news and the meal you made sounded great, it is steak and vegatables for me , have to go and call my brother in law in calgary now it is his birthday so they are three hours behind us so it is about 9-15 am there so he should be up bye for now dorothy

Hi all,
Well with flood alerts etc.etc. I decided I would not go with Johan tomorrow to Rotterdam and have still a touch of Bronchial trouble - 5 weeks now! I will have a lovely day all to myself.
I went to the market on my scootmobile today but it was very cold. I must get some more winter woollies out before I venture outside again.

evening everyone, everything is fine now with the electric ,the sparkie has finished and everything is spot on.
I have most of the box rebuilt around it but have to buy two full lengths of tongue and groove at B & Q tomorrow as it is a bit bigger than the one i took off the wall.
For once i have worked with wood and not made a b***s of it so i am quite proud of myself.i even remembered how to use a wood plane hee hee.
I was back at the hospital today and got a bit of bad news,it seems i have carpal tunnel in both hands ,the left being far worse however, and i have to have it checked every couple of months.
I won't worry about it unless i find i can no longer do the garden or my cooking, because i will then have to rely on Liz to do the cooking [horrors ,yuk, shudder]
That won't do at all lol.
I have to shoot off now ,the missus is a bit off colour with this virus ,and the only thing she fancies is an omlette,an onion ,bacon ,mushroom i think.
See ya tomorrow peeps.Fred.
